And I for one thank you (and everyone else) for keeping it that way.

 You are welcome Paul.

My wife rides also. She's been on her V65SP since 1991. She has several of them. She loves Guzzis but just is not a forum type.

My wife rides as much as I do, and has just as many life interests as I do.

I'm on probably 5 forums as a regular on various subjects.   She's on zero.   So she's not a forum type either.   Maybe it's a trend.

… or less inclined to snap suspenders and argue about pointless crap?

Or more inclined to go riding instead of talking about riding?

The possibilities are endless!

My wife and cat both ride.
That's very nice to hear mate..
But.
Every time I read that "my wife or my girlfriend (or perhaps both..!) ride", it reinforces my point that a given percentage of riders are female, but that percentage is vastly less on the forum.
The women don't like this place and I think it wouldn't be a bad idea to find out why.
We can all take wild guesses, but interestingly, there's been no female feedback from non or inactive female members, as to why on this thread..

this is gonna be a huge generalization but...

male motorcyclists tend to immerse themselves.  mags, forums, dealerships, wrenchin', etc.

female riders tend to just ride.  and they don't get a new bike every 3, 4, 5, 6 years, just cuz.

Nah... my wife immerses herself (as do her friends)... but she does so in the riding, and the friends, and face-to-face community. She goes to events, and rallies (see my other post), she goes to beer nights, and volunteers for poker runs and fundraisers.

The notion that riding is still very much a male-dominated community... is alive and well in forums. Look around. It's a bunch of dudes, arguing, debating, puffing up chests, patting each other on the back, and generally... dudes being dudes. I think it's easy to forget that not everybody is into that particular social setting.

Well, a picture IS worth a thousand words, right? I say that both with total seriousness, and tongue in cheek. I could sit and type out all the things I did this weekend, and all the bikes I saw, and  upload every image one at a time, and describe the games and fun that were had at "this weekend's event", or I can make an insta post, with all my pics, and a quick descriptor, that reaches exactly the people I want to reach.

Times, they are a changin'. We're mostly old farts here, and mostly because Guzzi resources are few and far between (as are Guzzi owners)

Not to put too fine a point on it, but it's alive and well on the road too.

Half or more of the country is female.   A small fraction of that is represented on pillions on any given day anywhere, and a TINY fraction of that is represented on the pilot's seat.

We here all ride bikes, or have ridden bikes.   If every girl that rode a bike was represented on the forum, they'd still be REAL thin on the ground .....

I am embarrassed by this whole thread.

For you ladies - go where you want, ride what you want, say what you want, do what you want.

Accept the consequences of your decisions.

Have a look at what the thread is about..
It's not that women can't do what they want to, that is a given. The point is WHY don't they want to be a part of this.
If we are being bullies or something similar, I would like to know.
That's all..

There's not a thing in the world preventing the ladies from doing exactly that, regardless if we're sitting here talking about the subject or not.   The ones who are reading it are already well used to WildGuzzi talk and understand what's going on.   The ones who aren't reading it ... well, they aren't.

Nothing to be embarrassed about .... ?

If we happily go along and not give a second thought as to why the potential of female opinion and knowlege has not appeared on this forum to an acceptable degree, then we as a whole are essentially excluding these ladies by ignoring them.
No bloody wonder they don't want a bar of us..!
Still not ONE post from a female to help answer the question..(Maybe that IS the answer to the question)

If you mean in the thread, you need to have a look back.   Two female readers, multiple excellent posts .....

My wife has been a stalwart passenger for twenty years. She should be able to find something of interest in these pages, but she has no desire to sift thru all the technical stuff.
Somewhat related, I made a comment to a stranger on the street last week that women don't understand how a car works, 'and that's ok', and was yelled at and called a sexist.
A real #MeToo moment.

The Modern Vespa forum has more lady regulars than WG, which might have something to do with more women being scooter riders vs. motorcycle riders.  Some, like me, ride both but we aren't common, and fewer still wrench.  Most of the ladies I ride scooters with could care less about forums, and I have yet to ride with a woman motorcyclist. I also co-host a fledgeling scooter club with a few lady friends of mine, the Sonoran Sunriders , and 20 out of our 28 members are men.  We even have one WG member among our ranks!

BTW, I would love to get an old shifty, break it down, and rebuild the thing, but I wouldn't have a clue where to begin.  I've dropped hints galore to the wrench-worthy with no takers.  I believe this has more to do with the time it takes to teach someone from scratch rather than not wanting to show a woman how to do it.  I get it, it's time-consuming to be a newbs fountain of knowledge.

P.S.
If you're in town and want to crash one of our Meetups, we won't complain about what your ridding. :thumb:
