prepping for NC/TN/GA trip on Norge.
« on: June 20, 2018, 04:58:33 PM »
Wife and I are getting ready for a 9 day ride in the southern Appalachians. Will ride from greater Cincinnati to Ashville, NC; spend 3 days there, checking out microbreweries; will also likely ride on the Blue Ridge Parkway north of the city (been on the section south many times). From there we plan to spend a few days in Suches, GA at Two Wheels of Suches; plan to spend the days riding on the wonderful roads in the area. Next we will head to Tellico Plains, TN and stay at Hunt's Motorcycle Resort; will likely ride on the Cherohala quite a few times and hopefully get in a few hikes in the mountains along the Skyway.

Any suggestions of microbreweries to visit in Asheville?

Calhoun’s and Aubrey’s are some great restaurants (with several locations) in the Knoxville area. Both have great beer selections with Aubrey’s offering lots of local stuff. Also, there is a small state park at Fall’s Creek Falls with nice trails and views. It’s a great outdoor destination in Tennessee.

Also look up Rt 58 heading east from Abington to Damascus, riding around there is awesome!

Check the BRP site;  part of it is closed due to road damage in the recent monsoons.

And NC-9 is going to be closed for the rest of the summer due to a massive landslide near Bat Cave.

If your going towards Ashville check out the Greenhouse Motocafe,  a cycle themed cafe.  Give a shout if you get near Hiawassee, Ga. On the way to Suchess, I ll try and meet up for lunch.
