Hepco Beckers on the Norge
« on: August 14, 2018, 01:44:06 PM »
I picked up my brackets today. Glad to chuck those stock bags. These hold more and weigh less. Surprised the Krylon matched as well as it did on the side panels.
Also, there is a lot of space behind the protrusion that holds the bag in place. There must be small small waterproof container that could be screwed on both insides to hold like basic tools, patch kit, etc.

A lot of the ADV guys are strapping a pvc pipe tool tube in there...  cap on one end, screw-off plug in the other...

Makes a good, durable, cheap storage container

If you’re going to throw the OEM bags away, I’d be interested in them since they are silver and match my Norge.

Let me know what your plans are...thanks

I was going to shoot them up with my pellet gun!
I guess I would have to remove the keyed locks because I don't want to give up one of my ignition keys. One is scuffed a bit.

I have these on my Breva.
the only issue I have with them is they intrude on the space for the passenger's feet.  The wife can only get her heels on the foot rests when we take a trip.
need some way to back the mounting back some, not sure how yet, but it really needs to be shifted to the rear.

What's with the feminine red turn signal lenses?  Amber is cool, red, well, you might as just ride a HD.

Thanks for the idea...good point. That’s a bit of a barrier as I have found it imposible to get locks for these bags from anyone a few years ago when I found another set of red Norge bags. I suppose the other option would be to find a way to rekey them somehow to my key or maybe someone has locks now.  Let me look around and if I find a set of locks, I’ll ping you back here.

Thanks!

I put 30L Juniors on my Mille, making it a much more useful day-trip/overnite ride bike.  However, I don't think I'm the only person who's found the Hepco-Becker bags to be less than completely waterproof.  I close the lids very carefully, lining everything up, and they still get wet inside - not a lot, but enough to require putting anything that needs to stay dry into a plastic bag.  I'm going to try installing a thin foam lining around the lip of the lid to see it that works, but haven't gotten around to it yet.

No they aren't waterproof.  But I've always packed with garbage bags since I've used canvas soft bags.

I must say those Juniors look like they were factory.  Nice job.  I use them on the EV and the Sport.

Hmmmm.  Maybe you're closely related to my wife.  She always wants garbage bags over everything - inside & outside of the luggage.  On long trips we sometimes look like the Clampetts travelling down the road  :embarrassed:

I added these Otterbox 3250 series waterproof boxes. Nice o-ring to seal.

I've had HB bags on three bikes, ridden in the heaviest of rain storms, never had one leak. The gaskets are replaceable. I think MG cycle has them.

I've had a 50% success rate with mine; the left case is pretty watertight, the right not so much. A new gasket is on my list, but I've got a little time before the wet sets in.

I mounted one of these in a similar space behind each bag on my V7.  I got the lockable version, and keep an emergency can of gas in one, and a full tool roll and spare ignition key in the other.  Surely, with all your miles each would come in handy.
