It looks like the rain is going to be pretty bad from Florence, flooding is going to be the big issue in the low areas, rivers and creeks. I'm planning a trip to NC (Bryson City) the last week of October on the Griso. I know they are very slow on clearing mountain roads from previous experiences up there, I hope there's not going to be many mud/rock slides or wash outs in the mountains. Here in Florida (being flat) we experience lots of flooding from these storms, but not slides or washouts. I wish the best to all the locals.

Idon'twantapickle, nc43bsa and I are also in NC. Here in Raleigh it's not too bad so far. Some wind, Fairly consistent rain since around 2:45 today and supposed to rain through the weekend.
Florence is taking a turn south so doesn't look like it will pass our way but it's moving slowly.
