V 7 mirrors
« on: February 08, 2016, 09:18:11 AM »
the 2015 V 7 Stone is a great bike but I find the stock mirrors stink. I can see something out of 1/3 of them and that's right on the side. I don't care for bar end mirrors because they make bikes too wide. I have used the Aprilia mirrors on the EV and I think the Stelvio. anybody tried them on the V 7?

Recently I installed the Aprilia mirrors on my '12 V7, for the same reasons you don't like the OEM ones.  Yes, the new mirrors offer a better view and they do not make the bike any wider.  Best of all, the new mirrors are not that expensive.  I got mine through AF1.  If I ever sell the V7 I'll simply swap back to OEM because the Aprilia units seem to be such a good fit for other bikes too.

When I put wider bars with a different bend on my V7 Special, I decided that the stock mirrors were great.  So, I kept them...

One of my previous bikes was an Aprilia Tuono and I found the mirrors to be vastly superior to many of the other mirrors that I had on other bikes.
My V7 Classic has those same mirrors and they work GREAT.  I highly recommend them.

Check out the Napoleon Barren Classics - designed to lie flatter & wider - come in oval & trapezoidal. Or for something superior, Rizoma Radial & Radial Sports.

They work for me with lower bars, put the view further around the arms, but with the standard bars you would have to see (sic) how well they work.

I put a set on my V7S after a couple of weeks of ownership. Interestingly, they're they same mirrors as the OEM ones on my F800GS, except the thread on the stem is a different size. Too bad, because I know people that have replaced their F800GS mirrors with something 'better' and would've given me the old ones. Yeah, I know, adapters. It's a strange 'disease' we have.   :cheesy:

I like 'em. Just enough extra visibilty for someone my size. The originals were perfect for examining my armpits.

Me too.  Replaced the stock V7 mirrors with Aprilia Tuono mirrors  :thumb:  after reading several posts on WG.  They work well and look good.  Vastly superior to the stock mirrors - which were so bad that I considered replacing them a safety issue.

I'm lucky to have an Italian motorcycle shop (Aprilia, MG, MV, Ducati, Piaggio scooters) only about 15 or 20 miles from me.  They had the Tuono mirrors in stock and they were less than 50 bucks.  I'm sure you could save a few dollars going online, but please support your local shop if you have one reasonably close.

I've bar end mirrors on mine, similar to those sold by Corsa Italiana.  They fit perfectly and work quite well.  My only complaint is that they make the bike seem wider.  I'm going to try and address that concern this winter by flipping the mirrors upwards.

Do you mean wider while riding or in the garage.......I got these that fold and so much better than stock.

You can buy a version of theses mirrors that are hinged and flip in with a touch of your hand. The only drawback is that they vibrate a bit and the image is not as clear as the ones in the photo. (CNC?)

The original V7 mirrors provide a fine view of your armpits!

I do mean both ... in the garage and on the road.  I'd love folding mirrors but I'm not prepared to drop more money on fluff like mirrors now.  I'll mount them more vertically and ride like that.

Not a misprint, they are pretty large and you can actually see things behind you.....  I thought they were worth it.  I also think that the record kit was worth it and that some crazy crazy brakes were worth it.. ;-)

I sure hope that $500. price tag is a misprint!

I am a big fan of bar end mirrors and have various brands on three bikes, including a V7R, which has Rizoma Retro's in black.  I really like the CRG's that the one gentleman is showing.  I use those on an 03 Ape Tuono and they have been great.  I never thought of trying them on the V7R.  The Rizoma Retros have some of the best visibility.  I wish I could run them low, below the bar, but that is just too low to be looking.  Very cool look though.  RhinoMoto seems to make the best bar_end slider adapters too.  I have had issues with the cheesy Rizoma's that the dealer put on the V7R to adapt the Retro mirrors.  I fixed one of the adapters internally with epoxy to secure the tightening bolt.  Works well now, but RhinoMoto has some adapter/sliders that I want to move the mirrors to.  Okay, I have blathered enough here.
