I'm a fan of powdercoat too.

I should have been more specific - you mentioned paint on drivetrain. I assume you painted the engine, tranny, etc. That's what I was curious about.

With the frame painted that color.  What are doing the body work in? and are you keeping the swallow tail look?  Looks good so far.

Swan tail.. check but solo seat only. Since it is an SE, the bodywork will be white with red accents.

I have a '87 SE with 16" front wheel.  It has a Bub exhaust system on it.  Sounds pretty good. 

Biggest problem, I had was with the right accelerator pump.  The factory setting had it squirting too much gas.  I found this out by chance.  Took awhile to find this out.  Rebuilt the carbs 3 times.  Checked the complete ignition system 4 times.  I really wanted to punch Guido in the face.

The other problem, that has plagued this model is the triple trees.  Check for cracks.  Not sure why.  Maybe the metal used in them or Guido tried to save some pennies for the parts.  This is/was the problem that showed with the 16" wheel up front. IMO.  Anyone can correct.

I don't have the 16" handling problem that was with most others.  My '89 LeMans V has the 18" front wheel otherwise the same bike as the '87 LeMans IV SE.

Maybe that's the "problem" for the 16" wheel and by the time it was corrected, the "bad handling" label got tied to the bike.

Good grief what size of rotors are these?   :grin:

I know the 16" wheel will make them appear even bigger, but when I look at my 320s on an 18" wheel they look miniscule compared with these

Can you get the caliper on and off without removing the rotor? Might be tight once lines are installed

This is  the Daves Cycle racebike.
 The rotors are NOS 300mm that were part of the old upgrade kit for the 18" wheel conversion. http://www.dropbears.com/s/sda/p62.htm
Calipers are Harrison billet 6 piston that I scored off of E-bay several years ago.

Dave Hull and I raced that bike in a four hour at phx int, in 1993. Pretty potent motor as I recall. Back then all 3 brakes were on the front master, with a chyrsler adjustable proportioning vavle for the rear.
I was never so sore, after riding that thins for a couple hours.

Dave, how cool is it that you raced this thing! I got it in pieces, and a lot is/was missing. I am putting back as much of the original pieces as possible (as raced). Tom Hull is adding a lot of his input into the build. He's going to build a 2-1 exhaust system.

That SE was built by Lance Baker, who at the time worked for moto america, the importer, at that time.
the exhaust was a rennsprt 2-1-2, but dave made a2into 1 out of it. for ground clearance.

Still cannot get over how large they look on the wheel

I've got 6 pots ISRs on my Magni 1000 & they are awesome, I love being able to haul off speed with light 2 fingered action, reckon those will be the same
