My wife, Elaine, and I are looking forward to it John.  We expect to arrive Thursday late afternoon and leave Sunday AM.  This trip we will be returning home via the topside of Lake Superior through Canada and down through Michigan.  Hoping the weather is good for the trip.

You're doing the "concrete tent" I surmise.  Great scenic trip your wife will enjoy!!!

Yes, we're booked into MacArthur's for the three nights.  Also traveling in the Vette and not on the bike.  Looking forward to it.

I don't know if anyone is planning on using MN Highway 23 to get to Duluth, we had a really bad rainstorm here Sunday.  I lost power for a couple hours, but part of  MN Highway 23 got washed out in the storm and is closed.  If you want to stay on the Wisconsin side of it, I believe it's Wisconsin Highway 35 that goes up to Superior and onto Duluth.  Otherwise US 61 is another good choice if you want to stay off Interstate 35.

If anyone wants to ride a good motorcycle road, MN Highway 1 from Illgen City, which branches off from 61 on the way to Grand Marais, to Ely, is a lot of fun.  The first part is a bit sedate, but after, it's miles of curves.  Plus, it goes through a state park, so there's not much in the way of a human footprint.  It's kind of like going back in time cause it probably hasn't changed much since the last ice age.

I wasn't able to go but I just looked at the three day weather history and it looks like they had really good weather. Duluth had had torrential rain and flooding last week.

It was a chilly next to the lake but if you walked up a few hundred feet to the higher camping it was a lot warmer!!!  No rain except for a few souls who were "washed" when a flash storm hit on the Gunflint Trail.

We had 59 people in attendance. Hard Luck Award went to Tom Magin who had an "O" ring displace on his rear tire and required a tow to Duluth and an overnight stay to get it fixed.....Tom also left his wife's sleeping bag at home!       Are perennial winner of "senior" rider, Chuck Hoefflin, drove his Corvette under the supervision of his beautiful bride Elaine.  That allowed Bill Unger (81) from Madison WI to claim oldest rider on a Guzzi.

Ron Personius also left his sleeping bag at home.  No tears were shed by the crowd in his attempt to win the Hard Luck Award....but Ron did take home the oldest Guzzi cup for beating Matt Phillippi by .....get this one serial number!!!!  Both rode in on 1993 Cal 3's but Ron's was built in front of Matt's.

Tom Kelly of Spring Green, WI won the 50/50 drawing and his wife Deb won "Long Distance Female".

Plenty of good times were had and a lot of great food prepared by Lynn & Louise!   :thumb:
