When you say "camping", I think of a tent and sleeping bag. Not a portable hotel room pulled behind a car or truck.
The best part of riding a motorcycle is to tilt the horizon and to lift the front coming out of a corner and to drift the back end powering thru loose dirt and to catch a little air topping a hill and... yeah it's all good!

When my kids were younger ....
I towed a "Trak Shak" off road camper trailer behind my 4 wd.
Visited much of Australia as the combo was able to go on any road or track.
We visited the Kimberly regions of NW Western Australia and ended up in the Bungle Bungles.

A 25 Km track from the main highway ... strictly "No Caravans"
The Trak Shak was on the list of acceptable trailers.
It took over 2 hours to traverse the track, we ended up arriving well after dark.
Most memorable part .... I was in radio contact with a family who were following us in their 4wd.
He mentioned on the radio that he had just been passed by a motorcycle, I could not see the bike's lights in my mirrors
Suddenly he was right beside me riding well in pitch black with no headlights.
We got him to ride between the two 4wd and we clattered our way over huge creek crossings and washouts.
Turned out he was a Japanese tourist on a Yamaha trail bike and the corrugations had destroyed his wiring loom
He set up his tent next to our camp, enjoyed our food, beer and hospitality and then proceeded to do the dishes all by himself.
Next morning he borrowed tools, wire, fuses and a multi meter and proceeded to rewire his bike.
He did an amazing job.
Last we saw of him was a cloud of dust as he headed off to transverse the Gibb River Road.

An old friend from high school said her idea of camping was staying in a hotel without a pool.

I suppose camping in a tent is all very well but parts of Australia have these rather large things called Crocodiles that like the occasional tourist for a snack especially Germans). My Uncle lived in FNQ and before the war was fixing his fences near the local river. You never water your horse in a river due to the crocs and he had tied his up to a tree. Horse had worked out how to untie itself and wandered down to the water for a drink. The last thing my uncle saw was a very large crocodile grab his horse by the head and pull it in to the river. Now he was not a man prone to exaggeration but he said it was a 25 footer. The big ones are cannibals and eat all the other crocs in the area.
I think I would like something a little more substantial than a bit of nylon if I was going to be near a river in North Queensland.

My Wife loves to camp.

Of course, everyone has their own idea of what constitutes "camping"

actually, with a toy hauler, it only makes sense to set it up for a few days or more rather than towing and setting up daily.  When Bev and are towing and going long distances, we're just as likely to stay in hotel for an overnight on the road.

Before I quit camping it was to ride until I was too tired to go further.  Get off, lie down, get up in the morning and
ride on.  Absolutely minimal gear, just the protective clothes.
Later on I got a sleeping bag, but sometimes it was too much work to get her up in the morning. So I rode on alone.
Now if I get off and lie down , I can' get up without help so I don't camp anymore.

Camping is not hard...it is supposed to be relaxed.

But trying to make the camp into a palace for the wife...well, now THAT is hard...

MUST have running hot water, MUST have mosquito free zone, MUST be able to have soft air mattress...

Ya I gave up after the first time I got her to camp with me...and as long as she doesn't stop me from camping, I am okay with that.

For many years I enjoyed tent camping at rallies.
1. I can be up drinking coffee with pals instead of waiting in a motel room for a hour or more while passenger gets ready.

2. I sleep better in a tent as the sound of bikes, lightening, animals doesn't bother me. In a motel when I hear a car door slam, I'm wide awake.

 3. You can stagger from the beer back to your tent.

4 It is cheaper. Guzzi content.

Never said anything of the sort... but if you're hauling a house behind your car, that isn't camping. That's just moving your house.
