1400 Eldorado production numbers
« on: April 30, 2017, 11:45:05 AM »
I ride a 2016 1400 Eldorado. A friend asked me how many are
Made each year and how many are imported? I cannot seem to find the answer anywhere. Does anyone know where I can find the true production/import numbers? Thanks.

My dealer has #29, and maybe #75. I have #76 and Elvisboy has #77 I think. I know, not exactly what you asked but it is fun and keeps the post to the top.

I am not positive but am pretty sure that is the fact.  The last two digits of my VIN are 77.  What are yours?

Cool!  Now that otto27 brought it up, I too am curious about the production numbers.  I will find out from a friend that's in the know next weekend and report back.

My 16 Red Eldo last Vin# are 200240. I am thinking these might apply to all 1400's made and not just the Eldo's.

So I spoke to my friend and he thinks that there are about 500 produced, 3000 total over the (4) 1400 versions.  He is in design and not production so said that is a close ball park figure.

As part of my day job I often attempt to get technical data from manufacturers - the organization that makes the stuff not only protects it's people from such inquiries, but when you do get an inside contact it becomes apparent that the left hand does not know how many fingers are on the right hand.
That's the combustion chamber of the turbo shaft. It is supposed to be on fire. You just don't usually see it but the case and fairing fell off.

There is a red one sitting on the showroom floor in El Paso.

If they made a V7 or V85 version of it I might be interested.  The places I ride the V7 would not be as fun on a 1400.

There are plenty of divinitive numbers. What is missing are definitive ones.

The 500 number for 2016 Eldo worldwide production would make sense. As does 3000 total for all 1400
versions combined being produced. If the 500 number is correct, would the US get 15% to 20% of the total?

chefsteve13, if your guy claiming 500 black 2016 Eldos plus another 100 red 2016 Eldos imported to the US were correct, the Piaggio warehouse would have been wholesaling them off at huge discounts for a while. I'd 'guess' he meant the same as Harry's contact; 500 total with 100 of them being red or maybe 500 black ones plus another 100 red ones.

I find the Eldo to be the most beautiful 'current' Moto Guzzi, even though it seems to have been a single year model. If they brought 500 to 600 2016 Eldos into the US, I wouldn't expect to see a 2017, a 2018 or a 2019...ever. Sadly, too few others seem to agree with the beautiful lines of the Eldorado and/or buying a Moto Guzzi. Regardless, a Moto Guzzi Eldorado is a classic no matter how many they made.

Though I still wouldn't be surprised to see a touring model using the same flowing lines of the Eldo to come out as an Ambassador at some point.

Not making much sense to me.

I purchased my first Custom on May 08, 2013 in Montrose, California.  At that time, I thought I was the first one in the USA to pick up a 1400 but I have no way I can confirm this.  Engine number ends with 244.

A couple of years later, I purchased another one, second hand from Todd Eagan.  He purchased it February 12, 2014.  Last three digits 230.

Huh?

Yeah but I've learned with Moto Guzzi, it's always divine intervention.

My 16 Red Eldo last Vin# are 200240. I am thinking these might apply to all 1400's made and not just the Eldo's.

I don't believe that is the case and here is why I think that:

To begin with, the modern Eldo, if it were numbered along with the other Cali models, would have a bigger number than what we have reported here since they started making 1400's in 2013.

Second, The title actually calls this bike an Eldorado, so it stands to reason that the production numbers are related to this particular model.

Now, how many total, or where they were distributed, who knows? The lowest number I am aware of here in the states is 0026.
