Looking forward to it, and getting the Eldorado cleaned up for the trip, if I was a brave man (and I am not) the V7 Sport would be making the trip, just don't think my back or knees can take the Sport for a week.I booked my room and it looks like several other locals are going to attend as well. Is there a way to pay for the rally online?
'ey Chuckie......youse been to the air museums out there? Tillamook and Evergreen? If not I'd suggest it.
I'm repairing the trike's fairing in prep for paint. Gotta have it painted for the event.
Someone recently told me that the Tillamook collection was mostly gone. A big disappointment because they had some very cool aircraft and that dirigible hanger is awesome! It seems that at least some of the planes have gone to Madras which is better than the soggy northwest coast for preservation AND much closer to John Day. Signed up and paid! Ready to go...now to the route planning in a few days time!Lolo Pass....here we come!!
Paul, if you are going as far north as Lolo Pass, you should go over Beartooth Pass as well. If you stop in Red Lodge, there is a brewery. Be sure to ride the Spiral Highway in Lewiston Idaho. And then south into Oregon on WA 129. You lucky guy!
I am tempted to do that route again...I did Beartooth and Red Lodge a couple years ago coming out of Cody and the Chief Joseph highway .truly worth repeating! I spent a few hours in Red Lodge drying out a bit as it was somewhat wet over the pass...will see if I get luckier on the weather this time around!
I did Chief Joseph, Beartooth, to Red Lodge a couple or three years ago myself. This year, I'll go the other direction from Red Lodge, Beartooth to Yellowstone.
Don't miss the Spiral Highway. Fun!
Wonderful! Thinking I'll do Lolo on the way back departing from John Day and then do the same...Red Lodge, Bearttooth, Chief Joseph...I'd like to stop in Jackson, but I have a feeling getting thru Yellowstone at that time might be stop and go with RV's, so may take the longer way around before finding a twisty way back.Last time I came back the day after labor day and basically had the park to myself, down to the Tetons, stayed in Jackson, then down to Flaming Gorge/Vernal and across Colorado to Black Canyon before the long trek across Texas. Poring over maps to see what looks like some other fun routes this time. New tires on the way...should be ready for a nice 5000 miler here in a few weeks...what fun!!!
Yeah, I understand the traffic issue, but it's probably our last chance to go without making a special trip.Thinly disguised bump..
