What a feast! If anyone didn't get enough to eat, something is wrong. Thanks to all the chefs.

The leather cap i was wearing belonged to the late Don Messerly. His widow gave me the hat to wear to rallies  so in a way Don would still be riding.

Last week the a/c was on and now I'm trying to find some dry far (ha ha fire) wood.

Despite the evolutionary pressure to grow webbed feet, and the need to lose a few pounds gained over the 3 days, the Okie is still a fun rally.  For those of you afraid of you who stayed home due to the weather ...

A big thanks to Doug, Dave, Rod, and John L for all of the wonderful food. We made some new friends, caught up with some old friends, and had a lot of laughs.

I have to agree Dusty.   Despite the weather, we had a great time getting back together, telling lies, drinking beer and eating, eating and eating.

Don't forget the Grappa.

Okie Camp Out NAR (Not Alota Ridin')

But I had a heckuva good time. Remember, Darren wanted to stay even after he'd been to the hospital.

And congratulations to Darren for 38 years work anniversary.   :thumb:   (Glad you made it buddy, FOR REAL!)

I wanted to stay just to hang out with you guys. Besides, If your gonna be banged and bruised, you might as well be doing something you enjoy. But the wife (smarter of us two) said come home and start healing up.

Sorry for the late post. Trouble with photo sharing. Lot's more work than it should be.
Despite the rain and putting two miles on the bike at the rally [yes, we trailered the LeMans], it was a good rally. Lot's of stories shared and food consumed.
I wish the Stelvio a speedy recovery.
Thanks for sharing the loop frame with us. I hope to have a clutch in the V7 Special for a rally next year.
The fresh gulf shrimp was yummy.
Chili reds. Saynomore
And thanks for the pellet cooker chickens. I may have to look into one of those. Fantastic job.
Ken Hand reported that the YOUNGEST rider at the GRIT rally was 61! What gives with that?
Paul - great visit. Hope the weather didn't deteriorate on the way home. Johns F150 kept us dry. Can't say the same for the LeMans.

I wasn't aware that Donelson's was still working on Moto Guzzi.

He agreed because we were on a trip but cautioned that he was no longer a dealer and might not be able to get parts. If you need work done give them a call.I was referred there by the new MG dealer who didn't want to work on an old guzzi.

A call to MG Cycles, Harpers or the other online ordering routes would help in that area. Many parts, just a few days away. Not all but most.

We need all the good mechs possible, especially for the older Guzzi's.

2019 Okie camp out Oct 11-13
« Reply #619 on: June 10, 2019, 12:48:32 PM »
OK folks , that time again . the 2019 Okie will be Oct 11-13 , as always we can arrive on Thur the 10th .

Where , the Talimena State Park .

Pay attention here , there are only a couple of RV sites still open , if you need a site with electricity call Mary at 918 567 2052 . The state of Oklahoma has changed some procedures , if you want a site with hookups it will require prepayment , sorry , not our decision . You need to contact Mary with in the next couple of days if you need a site . $20.00 per night for seniors (62 years of age) , which is really pretty cheap .

Tent sites are no problem , $7.00 per night .

Doug has reserved the pavilion and the site where he always sets up .

As always , other expenses will be covered by donations , Doug does a brilliant job providing meals , let's make sure his expenses get covered , plus a little bit . He and Terry put a lot of work into this event , as do some other folks , let's make sure this camp out continues on into the future.

If you have never attended this event , the Ouchita Mountains offer the best motorcycle riding out here in the middle . The ride over the Talimena Drive rivals all of those famous roads you've heard of , and actually bests many of them . 54 miles of motorbike heaven . Light traffic , fairly relaxed law enforcement , and amazing views .

Let's get a list going , don't miss this one  :thumb:

The rally should definitely be renamed Dusty’s Rainy Queen Wilhelmina!

Last year’s summary...

Friday:  Rode up in the rain, got delayed for 3 hours, bundled up, arrived late.  So much fun riding at night in the cold, in the mountains and forest, waiting for deer to dart out at any minute...high alert riding for sure!
Saturday:  no riding due to torrential rain, just a lot of pavilion time
Sunday:  foggy, rode in the rain for half the ride home, scared a deer near the town of Antlers ( no pun intended) with a quick braap of the Agostini pipe.

Overall:  priceless as we had shelter courtesy of John Lowryter and good music and good company and it was a good excuse for a weekend ride!!

Tell Doug I'll stop at the local market in town and get 3-4 lbs of pepper jack cheese.

NO. It doesn't rain every year as I've been going for the last 30 or 40 years.

Put the Talimena Trail on your bucket list. One of the top ten roads in the midwest.
