Starter hitting neutral signal bolt, is this common? 850T
« on: June 19, 2018, 09:10:48 PM »
Just mated the transmission to the BB motor, starting installing the starter, and it hits one of the attachement bolts for the neutral signal switch.  Everything is bolted up, mounted flush and doesn't look "cockeyed" although one of the starter mounting bolts is touching the bolt hold down the neutral signal switch.  Is this normal?  This is on an 850T

Bosch starter or a Valeo/Valeo clone?

Not uncommon. IIRC, you'll need to swap the bolt for button-head.

The swap from Bosch to Valeo is clean and easy, but there's that one bit of clearance that you'll need to deal with.  On my Cal2, just a small bit of grinding on the neutral switch screw was enough to take care of it.

I had the same issue when I installed my Valeo starter.

I used two countersunk screws and just countersunk the neutral switch so it fits.
