Racing Daytona No1 changed hands recently although commanded a fairly steep price still in Oz though.

Yeah a very steep price...  :o

On the upside it is a genuine RACECO 1288 & apparently has one of the original Guzzi race ECU's.

The Daytona is finally back together. Had the top and bottom end done, replaced the original oil lines with braided stainless lines, powder coated the wheels black, reupholstered the seat in black, sent the tank and bodywork to a professional detailer, installed a carbon fiber front fender, and put on a pair of Michelin Pilot Road 2's.

I have a pair of pork chops off a Sport 1100 and the Sport 1100 foot pegs for it but I didn't get to those so I'll swap them out after the season is over, it's sat dormant long enough and needs to be ridden.

Super cool. I plan on getting my Sport 1100 back on the road now that the Daytona is getting to where I want it. The Sport 1100 and Daytona both have their own personalities. Don't subscribe to the it's a poor mans Daytona mentality, I'm sure you'll love it.

Hey Blueboarhound,

When you say you had the top ends done, what exactly did you get done?
I have a centauro and am interested to know what parts you needed and where you obtained said parts?

Thanks.

Oil changed and all O-rings and gaskets were replaced. I think your bike came with the braided steel oil lines but if not I'd upgrade those to the braided lines. You can find the parts at MG Cycle and/or Harpers.

1 x 14003600 (Oil pan gasket, most big twins)
2 x 90706313 (Oring for distributor blanking cover, early fuel injected models)
2 x 90706361 (oring spark plug hole, 4-valve valve cover)
2 x 30023700 (valve cover oring 4 valve big twins, Centauro Daytona MGS01)
2 x 90706552 (oring, intake manifold flange Daytona, RS, Centauro,)
12 x 90706094 (cylinder stud o-ring, Viton, 12 per engine, 90706090)
2 x 30022000 (head gasket Daytona-Centauro)
2 x 90718406 (exhaust gasket Daytona Centauro)

Thank you kind sir. I like the black compared to the gold they were painted when I got it and much better than the OEM white. Plus the black wheels look good with the newly upholstered black seat:

It's a little hard to tell in the photos but the red contrast stitching separates two finishes, one smoother than the other, on both the seat and the backrest.

Art Corsetti. He worked at the dealership where I purchased my Sport 1100 from in the '90's and more recently at Europa Macchina Moto Guzzi. He was also the second owner of my Daytona.

The Cherohala Skyway was conceived in 1958 and opened and dedicated in 1996. The 43-mile (69 km) road has been designated a National Scenic Byway and it crosses through the Cherokee National Forest in Tennessee and the Nantahala National Forest in North Carolina. The skyway gains over 4,000 feet (1,200 m) in elevation from it's low point of just under 900 feet (270 m) to it's high point of over 5,400 feet (1,600 m). I found that the weather at the top changes every five minutes, at least it did this past Saturday.

I finally pulled the trigger on a 1993 Daytona 1000! I've been lusting after the Daytona 1000 since the late '90's but for whatever reason my desire for one had an uptick over the last year so I've gone and done it. I picked it up this morning and took the long way home.....

It looks a bit like an RS. Just gorgeous!

Nice racer write-up there.

A bit tiny but still readable - It's a shame that some corporate momentum was not gathered off of Dr John and his wheeled-spawn.

Made me wonder looking at it too, and then scrolling through, I don't recall seeing Daytonas with those pretty Euro headlights. Did they make them like the small light Sports?

Apologies, that's the sized it scanned.

The "euro" headlight was used on the Daytona. It's my understanding certain markets got the square light to meet that country's DOT requirements for headlights.

No, motor is still in stock form. I did upgrade to braided stainless oil lines and I'm probably going the Das Mototec oil pump and Caruso steel gears route at some point.

I got one of those headlights from Leafman when I purchased the bike:

For some reason it comes with a 4-way flasher.

Good golly but those are pretty.

I guess, fortunately, the front is for me, the least often seen aspect of my Spot.

Finally a side stand comment. I had the link from bracket to stick pop off 2 X. I made a better one and a friend had 10 water jet cut. If any Daytona owner wants one PM me with a mailing address.  The key hole slot would not correctly track the flanged post on the stick.
I like the front end a lot and have used GSKR forks b4. I added the armored hoses when I bought mine, along with an external oil filter sump from Teo Lamers. I hate running steel cap screws in and out of aluminum castings. Mine has the original white wheels w/red stripe. The Gold goes well w/decals.  Good fortune, R3~

Hi Bluebaorhound,

Beautiful looking piece of kit you've got there :thumb:

I couldn't help but notice your lovely bracket for attaching the side stand to the engine. Is it your good work or did the previous owner make it?
Any chance you can provide a better close up pic or even better a CAD file and information on the material used to make it
I know there are multiple spine owners out there who have suffered the indignation of a collapsing stand  but yours looks like the goods

Thanks
