« on: September 12, 2017, 08:24:58 PM »
I've just mailed out updates for all V7 map variations. If you're using one of my maps and didn't receive the email, please send me a PM.

The new map for the 1TB V7 (Mistral) is running well, Mark. A much easier start up, with no more smell of fuel, smooth running up & down the rev range, but a bit more difficulty holding it back to legal speeds on the slab. Many thanks. I like it.

I downloaded the updated V7 map and it is a nice improvement!  Cold start ups are noticeably enhanced!  Thanks Mark!!!

And after more riding on my usual haunts in & around the city, it seems to me that the muffler (Mistrals, dB killers in) is running quieter & less raucous. Go figure. Still early days on fuel consumption records, but within the zone so far.

I'm running the new map and I like how the bike responds when warmed up.  The GuzziTech 2:2 stainless exhaust still has the odd quirk of being able to ride away after starting the bike from cold but then it will stall if you need to stop before the bike is fully warmed up.  Not really a big issue for me as I just start the bike before putting on my helmet and by the time I'm ready to ride the bike is perfectly ready to go.

I fired up guzzidiag before loading in the new map and noticed my throttle advance was reading 1.2 when it should have been 0.8-1.0 and I know it was set correctly last time I loaded a map in.  I'll keep an eye on it to see if it drifts in the future (guzzidiag set it to 1.0 after loading in the new map).

Zinfan, reason may be in cable. I always try to make steering straight and suspension "loaded" before making throttle position reset.

Hmm I do it with the bike on the centerstand each time so it should be consistent??  Not sure how loading the suspension can affect it but what I'll do is hook up the laptop and see if it's changes as I load and unload it.

Zinfan, I'm sure I could fix that stalling issue.

One thing I like to do before resetting any throttle value, is roll the throttle open all the way, then release it to let it spring back to its own resting place.

Amazingly I did that this time, I'm going to hook up guzzidiag to check it out over time as usually I don't read the ecu unless I'm doing a map update or want to see if I have an error code.  The reason I looked at the throttle value before updating is that I swear that on my last update the throttle was set at 0 degrees before I did the reset but was just pressing buttons too quickly and didn't take special note of it so this time and from here on out I'll be noting that value before making changes (I had correctly reset the value the last time I loaded a map so I'm curious to see if it drifts over time).

I loaded Beetles latest update for my V7 II Factory exhaust 2017-08-14 today.
By mistake I forgot to make the "Throttle self-learning" which changes Throttle angle from 0,9 to 1
Testrode my bike with Throotle value 0,9 then in a rather cool weather, 14 degree Celsius. Found that the engine runs very good at low revs, 2000 rpm. Acceleration from 2000  rpm was good too. Beetle must have done something to improve fuel injections for these revs. At home I noticed when checking procedure that I had forgotten to do the "Throttle self-learning". Did it and got throttle angle 1 degree. Run a test. Bike do not run as well as before. Shall I reload the mapping to return to throotle angel 0,9? Can anyone give an explanation why my bike runs better with 0,9 instead of usual 1 which is recommended for Beetle mapping?

Did you reset the autolearning parameters?

No I didnīt. I thought that since lambda sonds input is used in your mapping, there was no parameters saved to remove. I have now reset the autolearning parameters and what a difference in throttle respons. I love my bike and your mapping has made it much smoother.
Thanks for your support Mark. I have never had such a good support after shopping  things in stores. Your mapping is really cheap considered the support you give us all.

So to reset the autolearning parameters is that disconnecting the battery or the main fuse? I notice on the V7ii there are 2 fuses that appear to be relative to the ecu. Is there a time factor as well?

No, with GuzziDiag just go to Actors menu and select "Reset autolearning parameters". Click Start.

That will work. Pull the fuse or disconnect the battery for about 1 minute. GuzziDiag is a more elegant solution.

Thanks Waxi. I've been trying some Staintune mufflers and think they're great but too much decel popping so will go back to stock mufflers. Am interested to know how the Agostini mufflers go on the V7ii without remap.

Anyway, if voiding my warranty wasn't a concern I'd be straight onto one of Beetles maps.

The 30 amp one? I tried that. The manual also mentions another fuse relative to ecu.

Tested the latest map yesterday. Yes, low end seems to be more solid. It has more groove, if I use musical term. Maybe this has something to do with new spark plugs (bigger gap) and caps which I replaced at the same time. Can it run even better?

Hi Guzzi forum
The message below i tried to PM to Beetle(Mark?) but its to old the moderator replies.
Any of you willing to help me with mappings and cable advice?
Regards Bert

bb quality

Hello Beetle. I'm owning my first guzzi ...a V7ii special/2015 with a very weak engine and absolutely poor running .
I thought i read that i could PM you to obtain mappings. And i hope you can advise me to some mapping cables.(for DIAGG)

The electrical things i performed are manly some tricked out LED lighting (thx to aliexpress) and i put a thermometer sensor in my oil drain plug and hooked it up to the onboard dash thermometer. so i can see the temperture until 61 degrees centigrade/141 Farenheit

Hope to hear from you
regards Bert
