Ol' Blue turned over 300,000 yesterday, on the way home from work.

:thumb: Nice. My 2001 Tahoe has 230,000 miles and climbing. They are good trucks. I'm looking to downsize a bit in two years to a Chevy Colorado and leaning towards the diesel engine. Would be my first diesel.
I'd much rather ask for forgiveness than ask for permission.

I had a Suburban & a couple of Chevy vans. Longest lasting stuff I've ever had. A couple months ago I met a traveling musician who was pretty much living out of his early 90's Chevy conversion van. It was not rusty, he washed it a lot, and it had 480K on the odometer. Still running good.

Forget the truck, let's talk about the horse and trailers.

When is the Not A Rally at your place ?
That's the combustion chamber of the turbo shaft. It is supposed to be on fire. You just don't usually see it but the case and fairing fell off.

This is good news for me. I just picked up a really clean 2000 Suburban 2500 LT with 112,000 miles on it. It was garage-kept and runs like it's new. My old 8th generation 'burb went 275K miles before I donated it to a local church. Hopefully, this 9th gen model will be at least that good...

Congrats, great when a vehicle turns out to be a good one...what year is the suburban...which engine?  I'm in the market for a backup hauling vehicle and have been thinking about getting one...

It's a 2002 model 1500-series 4x4 Suburban.  5.3L Vortec engine.  4L60-E transmission.  3.73 limited slip differential.

If you get one, make sure it has optional gearing.  Any number lower than 3.42 ((3.21, 3.08, etc.)) will take the fun out of towing.  Lots of them with the Towing Package will have 3.73, which is just right for fuel economy vs. towing ability.

The 3/4 ton is boss.  6.0L engine and the 4L80 transmission.  Not to mention the big differentials.

I'd like to have a 2500 Suburban or Yukon.  Almost bought one back in January.

Tough and will last forever, with a little bit of maintenance.

Good news Rocker.  I have a friend that buys a new Dodge every two years. Payments of 3 or4 hundred a month. IMHO, what a waste.
MY 66 GMC and 71 Chev sdtrucks are classified as antiques and insurance is $96 a year for both. I don't know what insurance would be for the fully loaded King Ranch Ford.

Chevy trucks are hard to beat.  Also, most comfortable for trips.

Forget the truck, let's talk about the horse and trailers.

When is the Not A Rally at your place ?
Currently four horses in the pasture:
-Registered Tennessee Walking Horse
-Registered Spotted Saddle Horse
-Registered Missouri Fox Trotter
-Grade Fox Trotter / Walker

The black trailer is gone, but was a 1980s S&H two horse tandem rust bucket.

The white trailer is a Featherlite aluminum two horse that we've had awhile.

Yes......... to be honest I have owned only Chevy trucks since the first one in 1977. All were bought used ,generally with dents , rust and high miles .All were standard shifts including the 03 I have now..I would keep them 3-7 years...None of them ever broke down on the road.. This is not to say that small stuff didn't break  or fell off...Our other vehicles since about the late 1980's are bought used Jeep Cherokees ,all 4x4 5 speeds including the 97 and 99 we have now...Same reliability as the Chevys.....Others have different opinions based on their experiences...New trucks/cars are nice....But can you push a stalled vehicle out of the way without causing 1000 bucks damage?
