Virginia Moto Guzzi Rally June 26-28, 2015
« on: May 21, 2015, 10:35:39 AM »
wildguzzisti,
A message from our rallymasters, Kurt & Sue Nordstrom follows  below.

I am doing the rally  tshirts this year, if you have a momet, please go to: http://jfritzius.wix.com/vamotoguzzi
and check the design out. I am getting mixed messages on the proper Italian translation of "Mandello Eagles Soar Over The Blue Ridge" so that part isn't set in stone yet. The shirts can be ordered separately if you can't attend the rally. The download for the rally registration form, and more general rally info is all on the jfritzius website.
Ron Komoroski

 Dear Fellow Guzzists,

I am sending this email out as a reminder that the 2015 Virginia Moto Guzzi Rally will be held June 26th - 28th, 2015 at Willville M/C Camp in Meadows of Dan, VA.

We only found out recently that the Grand Pooba of Moto Guzzi Frank Wedge had forgotten to post the rally information on the MGNOC web site.

Because of this error I have decided to extend the reduced pre-registration rally fee through the month of May.

So if you were sitting on the fence or hoped to attend but forgot to get your registration mailed now is the opportunity to get the "check in the mail."

As a reminder only pre-registered folks will be guaranteed meals.

If you have already registered, I thank you.

Hope to see you at Willville,

Kurt & Sue Nordstrom

I had a conflict but now I'm 50/50. When is the last day to still get in on the food even at the higher fee?  Or has that already past?

Thanks.

Yep, see you there Nick.

Just deciding which one to ride the Breva or the EV. A short hop for me, just up the mountain from the lake.

Would it be OK to just drop by on our way north for a few hours?  Probably have 2 bikes, only one a Guzzi

Sure it would. There are a number of folks that do just that, and a few Guzzi locals too that don't camp or come there for meals. Kick some tires, shake some hands, take a few pics, meet a few of the Guzzi faithful...  :thumb:

Weather is ugly here in Western NC and Southern VA this morning with severe T-Storms in the area.  Supposed to pass through by noon, with scattered showers after that.  I don't mind rain, but severe T-Storms I avoid.  Will wait and see...

So it was YOU that done it!!   It's cause you don't have a Karma bell.   Maybe George will send you his.

The rally was wonderful.   The weather was challenging.    Torrential rain and lightning around midnight Friday, rain all day Saturday on and off, another cloudburst at dinnertime Saturday, and wind howling like a banshee in the pine trees and stressing the tent guy ropes Saturday night as the "front" came through.

Ah, Virginia in the summertime.   But the ride up was nice, the ride home was lovely, and the hanging out and socializing in between was worth all of it.

Had an excellent weekend! Thanks to Kurt and Sue and Ron and Alice and Will. Despite rain, thunder, lightning, fog, and whiskey, we survived.

I had a great time, good to see old friends.

A little worried about next years Virginia rally. The rumor has it that it will be at Buena Vista again. I sure hope they have done something with the restrooms and showers. If not I might miss that one.

Dean, I'm with you on the facilities at Buena Vista, and the shade and cooler weather at Willville makes a big difference as well.
Holding the rally in a great motorcycle-only campground seems to make much better sense that having it in a city owned park.

May I ask what specific rumors you've heard about a move back to Buena Vista?
Not necessarily from who, but what, and why the relocation from Will's is being considered?

Steve, read Ron's future of the rally thread.  I think he covered both Buena Vista and Willville for the next rally chairman.

Big problem at Willville is there is no adequate cooking facility so both meals are catered which brings the rally
fee up.  I've got some feelers out to see what else can be done but don't hold your breath.  A number of community
organizations would cook for us but the rally goers would have to drive to either the VFW hall or the community
center to eat (about 1-2 miles away).  I don't think that would go over too well.

Also the VFW hall would do breakfast on Saturday morning if they knew they'd get enough people to make it
worth their time and effort.  They do an all you can eat breakfast for the Beemer rally here for $7.00 per person.
