« on: July 03, 2015, 06:04:45 PM »

I got a e mail from Mary the camp host the other day. She says they're re surfacing the main road through the park this summer. Maybe we'll have fresh pavement by Oct. :bike-037: :bike-037: :thumb: :thumb:

Dusty,

Can you give me a location so I can put the dates/location on my riding calendar?  Thanks.

I last saw and talked with JN at the get-together last year at Daisy State Park in AR.  A really nice person.

Thanks,Dusty for posting early. This will give everyone time to plan and with the newly revamped park this will be a fitting tribute to an old friend. Thank you Dusty and your helpers at getting this posted so early.

Look forward to the camp out.

For anyone not wanting to camp, the Queen Wilhelmina Lodge re-opened on July 1 after a three year makeover.  Preliminary reviews are very positive. It's probably not to early to make reservations. http://www.queenwilhelmina.com/
Perhaps the Saturday morning breakfast ride tradition can be revived this year.
Then again, when I was watching Predator I didn't think two members of its cast would become governors, either. So you never know.

Chuck , pertinent info in the heading . Yes , make it down , and bring the other Chuck along .
  Dusty

Thanks for the info guys.  Talihina, OK is just inside 800 miles for me, so it is two days travelling in both directions.  As far as the other Chuck (Chuck in Indiana, Chuck Stottlemeyer), he may be in CA that time of year.  He and Dorcia are very busy people.

I guess I will have to decide between riding one of my roads(Talimena Parkway) and attending Vintage Festival at Barber Motosports Park, both events are the same weekend.

That is a big consideration, it was so crowed at Barber last year it was hard to move around.
But I do like to look at all the old bikes and stuff folks are selling.

Doug and I are starting the planning . GJ , and all of you other folks that have pics , time to start posting them . Seems as though some folks don't realize what a great area this is to ride . I know that Michael D and Rocker have some wonderful photos from past Okies . Really guys and girls , no better place in the country for MCling , especially in OCT , when most Northern and mountain states are having snow .

Watch this space for the T shirt design and pricing . Help us remember our grand old man .

Oh , Doug will do his usual exemplary job on the evening meals , and all assistance will be most welcome .

Since there may not be a Swamp Scooters this year , sorry for that , some of you East Coast guys that were planning on attending should consider coming to the Okie . Nick , you expressed an interest before , maybe this is the year . No gumbo , but last year David Welch did provide some boudin , and Delrod makes a mean burrito .

Wouldn't be very hard to do if the roux was made ahead of time. We would need a big pot and a rice steamer. and some shrimp and some Andouille, and maybe some catfish, and some green pepper, onion & garlic, oh, and some okra, Cajun seasoning, maybe a couple of squirrels and some crawfish.  Louisiana hot sauce and maybe a Buckwheat Zydeco CD! and some beer, that's all. :boozing:
