Saturday was a great day here in Cincinnati. A good turnout at the local MG dealer's (Cadre Cycles) open house. Got to meet some nice folks (some fellow WildGuzzi members too). Talk Norges and check out many other fine bikes. Topped off the day by seeing the Carl Verheyen (guitarist for Supertramp) trio at the Southgate House Revival. What a player (I'm a jazz player, myself). Yep, stellar day!

Went to the marine supply store for some finishing washers.  The aluminum ones at the tru-value are $0.11ea.  I needed 100.  The stainless ones at the marine supply are $0.02.  Better price.  As I was parking a gent on a bicycle came up and commented that my bike was almost as quiet as his, and how much he enjoyed the sound of a healthy engine.  It made me wonder what he's used to since my bike wears BUBs, which are not silentones by any stretch.  He went on to say how he was stationed in Europe back in the day and the policia rode Guzzis with one hand and carried a Thompson in the other.  He said it's how they all rode and he assumed it was the official riding style of European bike cops.  I didn't ask how long ago that was or how they worked the clutch . . .

Got the tank and fairing back from the painter.  They did the black on Friday and the green today.  That's green, all right!  I spent several hours taping them last night.  Looks like a good tape job.

It's going to take a day to get the tank innards assembled and the tank installed.  Stay tuned for a report under its own topic.

Had a great weekend tearing around the McKenzie area in a 1924 Chrysler. The Canterbury Vintage Car Club had it's annual Irishman Creek (the name of the station where Hamilton invented the jet boat) rally. An absolute hoot. Tearing through rivers, farm roads, gravel roads etc with morning temps about -5degC. :thumb: We had a tourer with a roof but no side curtains.

Our vehicle never missed a beat, lugging 5 of us around. No trailer queens on this run! Oldest was a toss up between a 1919 Model T Raceabout and a 1919 Hupmobile. Great fun, with 130 vehicles. Vehicles had to be no younger than 1931.

Eventful week. Almost too hot to ride the Mille but I've done a few short errands.

Accepted a good bid on the Boulder house yesterday (yay!) and should close in four weeks, which takes us to Bastille Day.  Easy to finish cleaning out the garage by then, and then we can honeymoon with a trip to California, in the van, with the Funduro along for side trips.

Wedding is Sunday, Father's Day, and the relatives begin arriving tomorrow. Much revelry coming up.

Mike, we'll give you fair warning. We'll be in Tahoe, Sausalito and points north.

Dusty, we use the Tarozzi and Agostini registries.

Dusty,

Kind of you to ask.  Long, hot, and fairly miserable, mostly.  Ms. LD drug me through six hours of errands and shopping today.  Wanted to get a ride in.  Then my body sort of crashed from the COSTCO-KROGERS hell.  Had to cancel a planned dinner with friend.  Just rescheduled for Friday, so that is good.

Going thru post-Colorado let down.  Houston summers, ugh.  Have to survive through around mid-October to see relief.  Will blow this popsicle stand for Colorado for as much of August as I can get away with, maybe close to a month at cabin?

Had two oil business friends transferred: one family Singapore to Kazakhstan the other back to Luanda, Angola.  Both are not happy.  Wives back mostly to USA.  Kids to boarding schools in Switzerland.  Glad to be out of that grind. Bleh.

Daughters found new apartment in Brooklyn.  Good deal, but emptied my pockets with deposits, etc. Anytime I get a dinar -- it is looted.

Yeah, summertime blues to be sure.  A bike will get a run tomorrow morning early before it gets too hot, or rains.

Had a good day thanks Dusty.

Because we have had a fabulously warm autumn/start of winter I registered the bike fro an extra two months 7 weeks ago. Yesterday was fine and not too cold, so jumped on the Breva, dropped off my stethoscope at my son's work so he could diagnose a problem, then went for a squirt to Akaroa. Had a ride not too cluttered with wombles, triffids etc., had a nice coffee there overlooking the harbour, then came back home. Round trip of 118 miles with a few "take the long way home" detours which have some nice twisties in them. This retirement can be hell!

I am off the road for three months in three days time so I am hoping for a nice warm fine day to finish off. :thumb:

Those long-way-home routes can be some of the best riding of all.

Much better today.  Any day with a V7R ride is a good day.  Dang rain nailed me though.  Soaked.  Bike took it all in stride:  smooth and easy does the trick.  Likely repeat tomorrow.

200 miles round trip to Cameron Pass (10,000 ft), with Motogeezer (Breva 750) and AlanP (his new FJR). I had to get home early to my bride (our one-week anniversary), but Alan and Dan went on another 40 miles down the west side of the pass to Walton, which gives them 280 miles each on the day.

The bikes: My new-to-me Mille GT, the FJR, the Breva 750.

Hot, clear day with a nice breeze. Slow going up the pass behind RVs -- I had lighter traffic coming down and had more opportunities to pass. The best part of the ride was twisty Colorado 27 from Stove Prairie to Masonville and Carter Lake.

1302 kms (809 miles) today. From Kapuskasing in northern Ontario to home. Left at 6AM, home at 8PM. The bike?  The 72 Eldo, of course.

This is my first post after lurking for a while!  I have a brand new 2016 V7 II Special. I went on a weekend camping trip to Bodega Bay, and on our way back the front tube blew out! We had to find a hotel and stay overnight. Now I have to figure out if there are shops around here that can tow my bike and repair the tube today. Still have 120 miles to home and a whole lotta hassle ahead of me.  But the trip was amazing!  Here is where we set up camp on Saturday:

Add me to that. The front tire going is the worst, especially with tubes. Hope you didn't go down.

Thank you! Ironically I have to say I got pretty lucky.  After riding in triple digit heat for an hour, we pulled over at a gas station to get some rest and hydrate.  We are sitting next to our bikes in the shade, and all of a sudden we hear air escaping my tire! The thing went completely flat within 5 seconds.  I don't even want to imagine what would have happened if it happened on the road.  We were doing 70-80mph. Local bike shop took me and the Guzzi in this morning, and $150 and two hours later I was on the road.  There was a gnarly hole in the tube, and there were many other weak spots in the tube too.  No idea why.  It could have been put in wrong, it could have been pinched... I only had 1100 miles on it.  I brought back the blown tube with me, so I'm going to take it to the dealer and see what they think.

Essie--sounds like a pinched/bad tube install.  Man.

My day so far is grand, except I pissed off Ms. LD by making a bacon/tomato sandwich.  She is on liquids only for colonoscopy tomorrow morning. I need to be nice to her.

Yeah, you'd better be nice. The night before a colonoscopy is the worst!

On a brighter note, I got out for my first ride of the year today. My neurosurgeon would not approve, nor would my wife, but she is out of town. Really helps kill the blues to get out in the country on a motorcycle.

My wife comes home tomorrow evening, time for another ride tomorrow.
