Just trying to figure when I'll  need to cough up some more money.

We've covered this on several of the tire threads...depending on how you ride and the type of tire you are buying?  Presumably you're not putting a car tire on the rear?

You could get 10K out of Pilot Road 4's..., well maybe only 9942 miles...  :lipsrsealed:

I'm happy when I can get over 6K miles; never have gotten remotely close to 10K. Others seem to have gotten different results. I currently have just a few miles under 6K on the rear Angel GT on my '09 Norge, but the tire is already down to the wear bars.

So, tire life is the same as the FJR?

Before I learned to control my right hand I rarely got 4K.. now it is better and I get more than 6K.  It took a fellow rider to point out that I very often lifted the front wheel a couple inches on spirited starts to wake me up.

Lots of variables. I suspect even the pavement type has an impact.
On my Stelvio, at 52,000 miles, I am on rear tire number 11 I believe it is....

Well...doesn't it really depend on how you ride...no one knows but you.  What kind of roads are you riding on, what tire pressures you are running (hopefully not 50 psi), and what tire you pick...really too many variables for us to guess how you ride...

I'm guessing that you'll get into the 8k's, but not very far.

I have yet to get full miles on a PR4 because I always end up getting nails in my tires before they wear out, but there are almost 3k on my rear right now and it hasn't even begun to square off.

I tried every other touring tire under the sun when I had my SV650 (other than the angel GT) and I never got more than 5-6k out of them. PR4s last longer and cost less cents per mile in the long run so it's worth coughing up the money for them IMO.

Don't know. Since I bought my 2011 it has yet to wear out a rear tire before the tire gets ruined. Maybe number three will make it.

So about the same tire wear that a Vespa gets.

Oh, I know, all you hot-shots with no chicken strips braggin' about how you get 4k on a rear. Sounds like Busa Envy to me!

I just replaced my tires this spring on my 2012 Norge with 11,350 miles on it. Still had a little tread but the rear tire was flat in the center of the tread. Mine had the Perelli Angel GT's on it that came with the bike. I liked them enough that I put them back on. I run the Michelin Pilot 4's on my other bike and like them just as much. I have not worn a set out yet so don't know what kind of miles to expect.

Sounds good, as I'm pretty easy on the gas just cruising around 95% of the time. I could get 10k (rear tire) with a 850 lb cruiser, 4k on the Busa and 8k on the FJR. Run em hard and tire life is gone, quick.  :boozing:

lots of variables when asking about tire life. example. I ride in Tn and the roads are great. my friend rides in Ga and those roads are like sand paper. we both ride the same use the same tires and pressures. I could get 6k out of a rear tire and he was changing them at 4k. same ration on fronts as well.
Also have a friend in Nashville who gets better mileage even yet but he rides like super conservative and gets 9k out of a rear tire.
So you have to ask your self how wipes do you get out of a roll of toilet paper?

I tried a set of 009 shinko raven'slast time and The rear is a big fat touring tire and I have over 6k on it now and still good tread.  At $100.00 on revzilla right now you can't beat it.  I like everything about the matching front except it has a pretty prominent center groove and does not like grated bridges at all. I will go with one of there Verge tires for the front next time.
By the way I do alot of HWY and tend to ride like I do not want to get ticketed. The Shinko's ride very well and no surprises.

When are you going to cough up more money? Use a tread gauge.

At 10,000, you should start putting shekels in the piggy bank no matter what, 'cause I've never heard of any Norge owner on any tire with any riding style who's gotten more than about 14,000 miles. I do a lot of long distance riding, and at this point the Pilot Road 4 GT (high load / long distance version) is edging past the Pirelli Angel GT (high load version) as my preferred tire.

Others have noted, there are too many variables to allow easy prediction. The tire you have, the type of riding you mostly do, how heavy you (and your luggage and passenger) are, how hot it is, how careful you are with pressures, how aggressive you are off the line - you get the idea, the list just goes on...

I've done 95,000 k on the Norge and always used Pilots. Like most guys, if you use your Norge within it's design brief, I reckon 15,000- 17,000 km and they're gone.
