Was thinking about listing the Vespa on craigslist, been running around town with the Norge (new toy). Got back on the Wasp today, nothing better in stop and go traffic, I'm keeping her (300 GTS Super).  :boozing:

If sticking with a Guzzi, a ratty Convert would be my choice.

Doesn't have to be ratty though.

Love my wifes baby Breva in the city. Nimble, quick, light, easy and enough guts to be safe in traffic.  And that's with a 300 pound walrus in the saddle.

True. But if it was going to be parked on the street as well, then it might end up that way anyway.

My naked Ninja 250 is pretty good around town.  1st gear is so low a person can walk next to the bike and talk to the rider, and it keeps getting 65-70 mpg.

I agree about the Vespa. I also have a GTS 300 ABS, and it is tremendous fun to ride! My Norge is great, too, and it far surpasses the Vespa on the highway, but the Vespa is king around town. Plus, the Vespa makes people smile, myself included.

I see plenty of Vespas in the city but they don't hold up well against braille parking New Yorkers. My CX is just fine for city riding but I could see a Convert as a good option.

Honda CH80 Elite. They made them from 1984 - 2007. They run forever and are on Craigs lis all of the time form $5-600.
They never changed the style and parts are cheap. No one wants to steal them. Look for old ads with Lou Reed, Devo, Grace Jones and
Adam Ant.

I guess it depends upon the city.

Vespas are great for normal cities with decent roads. However, they are a very poor choice for a person living in London. Theft of Vespas is rampant in London, in broad daylight, and no one does anything about it. No one has a gun (except perhaps the perps), and the police will not chase riding perps because the perps might crash and sue. Vespas are also a poor choice for pot-holed, rutted, rubble-strewn streets, you know, like in war-torn areas and some US cities... And then there are as someone has mentioned the cagers who park by feel...

Mines a Vespa Sprint 125 (2014) - amazingly, with ABS & traction control(!). I average around 80mpg (UK) in city riding. If I was the 8 stone Italian girl they use in their calculations, I'd get 110mpg apparently. Fun machine, very manoeuvrable, I've had it up to a (claimed) 60mph.

That's cool!  I was going to say an old enduro bike but the Madass looks like a lot of fun.

We have both a Helix 250 and a Piaggio BV 350.  Both are excellent and fun around town, but for the occasional freeway romp, it's definitely the 350 as the small tires start to feel slightly unstable at 70MPH.

I use a Breva 750 with Givi top box.  It is just about perfect for the Houston terrain and speeds.  Sometimes I wish I had more dual sport type suspension for some of the bumpy roads.  But overall I love it.

My vote world be for a Motard. Long travel suspension for riding over curbs and obstacles. Light and manageable for darting around traffic.

WR250X, but it would be gone in about 30 seconds after parked in many cities. Have to carry a bicycle chain and insurance.
The best part of riding a motorcycle is to tilt the horizon and to lift the front coming out of a corner and to drift the back end powering thru loose dirt and to catch a little air topping a hill and... yeah it's all good!
