The Kansas state rally
« on: May 09, 2017, 11:26:48 AM »
OK folks , the Kansas state rally is coming up . June 2-4 at the COE campground near Council Grove KS . This is the longest running Guzzi rally in the US , 46th annual I do believe . This event is now hosted by my very good friend Mr. J.B. Taylor , who is a true and real gentleman .

For the extremely reasonable fee of $15.00 you get Fri and Sat camping , and a wonderful Sat evening meal prepared especially for the attendees by Mr. Taylor himself , who we all know is an excellent cook . No idea how J.B. provides all of this for 15 bucks , maybe he is part mechanic and part magician . For the early arrivals the COE will gladly accept a small camping fee , separate and in addition to the base rally fee . Mr. Taylor assures us that the park is modern , flush toilets and hot showers , no idea about internet access , but surely we can go a couple of days W/O a computer , right ?

You can contact J.B. directly at at flynguzzi@yahoo.com for more info , or shoot me a PM and I will forward the info .

Come out and have a great time , J.B. (Jeff) assures us that you will have a good experience , and if not , take it up with Big Tony from Wichita  :violent1:

I will not be able to attend this year but highly recommend it. Great rally in a beautiful area of Kansas with some really nice roads in the area.

Went last year with my dad. Very nice rally and wonderful campground. Was nice to meet gliderjohn and twowings. If anyone is going from the east I recommend highway 4 from Topeka. That was a really nice road with almost all new blacktop. Make sure you fill up in Topeka, no fuel stops for 100 miles.

More news on the Kansas Chapter MGNOC Rally as follows:

The local Gold Wing club has volunteered to do Saturday Morning Pancake Breakfast for all attending.
For those who have never been to Council Grove Reservoir / Santa Fe Park, we put up signage along the roadway into the campsite to help those who have never had a chance to attend. Friday and Saturday campfire, and the Flint Hills 80th annual Rodeo is Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening @ 8:00pm in historic Strong City Ks. which is just 16 miles to the south of the campsite.

Will add more information as needed.  Thanks!  JB Taylor Ks. Rep

You know.. I been thinking.  This and Cedar Vale ought to be combined into one. That would give one more weekend in a busy rally schedule to go someplace else..

I think it may be an issue of rally attendees traveling to the same part of the country multiple trips. I can understand that with Iowa rally, Illinois rally, Wisconsin rally and Davenport vintage flat track and The Mile wish I could do 'em all, but not likely.

There has been some discussion of combining the two rallies , we really don't yet know what the response will be . This is NOT an effort to choose one over the other , but these things take considerable commitment and work , and JB and the CV group are simply looking at combining forces to make a better experience for the attendees and hopefully reduce the work load for the organizers . Stay tuned , either way the two groups are supportive of each other .

Geezer FYI:  Since this is a federally-administered campground (Army Corps of Engineers, IIRC) they will honor your Senior Discount Card for National Parks if you have one...my extra days of camping last year were 1/2 price...

I had every intention of making this rally and was looking forward to it.  But I find myself in El Campo, Texas through Friday afternoon.   I've decided that is too long a schlep.

Hope everyone has a splendid time.
