New Roamer on MG Website
« on: March 27, 2017, 09:13:29 AM »
Anyone in the US see one of the new Roamers in person? My guess is that it will be here next year. I like the revised foot peg location on the Roamer.

The days of the US getting the new stuff a year later are over.  They may already be in dealers, if not I'll bet they are here within a month or two.  Drop Guzzi a note and ask them, they have gotten pretty good about responding to questions like yours.

They've got one available for test rides at my dealer in Richmond, VA, so they're here for sure ... maybe not all the way to Idaho yet ....

Footpegs are now closer to where they oughta be. With a larger tank (V7 style) I might be on board.

A guy from Colorado showed up on one last year at the New Mexico Guzzi Rally in Datil.  He said he liked it! :thumb:

Cool looking modern Guzzi...and it sort of reminded me of a late model HD Sportster... :1:

Thanks. Ever since I sold my CALVIN to NCDAN, I have been itching to get another MG under 500lbs. I like the new, revised Roamer. I will have to travel quite far to buy one as closest dealer is in Reno or do a fly and ride this summer.

Todd at Guzzitech converts them with a much more sensible  22 liter  tank !
Im just  waiting to get over & try one.

I saw that. I also saw the custom shocks and exhaust options for the V9. Hopefully, I can pick one up this year...or next year. I'm trying to be patient :bike-037:

Of course, why be different when you can be like everyone else.  Your average small cruiser shopper will go with the safe choice 99.8% of the time.

I wouldn't make such a claim if you haven't ridden one.  I have, and it doesn't need more power.  It moves quite well.

I think the "Needs more power" thing is just a gearhead pleasantry, like asking "How are you today?".   When someone says "How are you?" they don't really mean that you need to tell them your condition of bodily health.

Similarly, when someone is referring to a V9, or a KTM 1290 with 170 HP, or a Ducati or BMW with 190 HP, or a turbo Hayabusa with 300 HP, and they say "Needs 10 or 15 more horsepower",  it's just a sort of way of acknowledging the post.   Just my opinion, having seen A LOT OF THAT over the years ... !   :azn:

It has 55 HP, and here are the other specs.  I have ridden a V7, and it was OK, and this V9 would be a notch better, so I suspect it would be just fine...If you want a two-wheel rocket, buy a V-Max or Hayabusa or Ninja 1000

My opinion having owned both V7 and V9: the V9 is the engine we all wish was in the V7.  Maybe the V7 III will bring it up to par.

More power in the V9 would just further expose the mediocrity of the chassis.  The power is perfectly good for what it is.

If MG doesn't put the 850cc motor in a V7 looking bike, I might just watch the salvage auctions for a wrecked V9 from which to translate in the motor into my V7R.

Or....just keep the V7R and buy a Griso...or one of these classic roadsters!! (90+HP, fuel-injected, 992cc, 4-valve-OHC) :thumb:   :1:  NOTE:  No issue with "not enough horsepower" or torque with this beast! (LOL)

I suspect they will, they almo have with the v7iii.   I'm interested to hear how the new hemi 750 makes power compared to the very old school  heron head.

JJ, fwiw some who have ridden both have suggested the difference between the V7 and V9 is more than specs suggest.

As for Jay and a Griso, I suspect his Duc and F800 give him anything he wants in terms of power with less weight and his V7's give him the Guzzi character.

OK - noted - and I did not know he had a Duc and a Beemer F800...  So, in summary, you are saying the V9 is a much better bike overall than the V7? :undecided:

Better is one of those amorphous terms.

Reports are that the V9 motor punches above it's specs more than expected AND the details seemed to be better looked after.

The V9 is growing on me, but perhaps a hybrid of the V9 and V7 would still be the right bike for me.

Shy of that my V7 is still probably "better" for me. But that's personal.

OK - understood and thanks!  I rather like all three - the Roamer, the Bobber...AND the Stornello, frankly.. :thumb:   They all look much better in person than in photos, IMHO...and I am sure they are all fun to ride...anywhere!  :thumb:

I'd probably happily own any of them.

Oh, I meant to say before you must be using Tapatalk or have signatures turned off. That's where Jay has his current list of a dozen or so bikes that he has registered lol.

Yes, I made the power comment as pleasantry and opinion as if I was going to buy one....I might also comment it's too heavy if the weight is over 450 pounds.......If the same bike was a Harley, there would lots of comments about the lack of power form a relatively large engine
