Got this from Euro Moto
Power Rating: 1.2 Kw cranking torque @ 270 amps
It really depends on how hard it is to turn the motor over, the Valeo on my Vll sport would draw about 170 Amps, it would wind over fairly slow, like an old DC3
Unlike a Bosch (a series motor) that will wind right up the Valeo is more like a fixed speed (shunt) motor.
You can make a simple meter shunt that will work with the millivolt range of your digital meter
Take about 10" of #12 wire, crimp a lug on each end suitable for putting in series with the starter cable
Then bare a spot of insulation about 1" from one end and another 7.7" further along, this is where your meter connects. This shunt will give you 1 millivolt for every Amp (170 mV in my case)
It's very important that the meter doesn't connect where the current terminates, any joint will have far more resistance than the wire.
The #12 cable will easily carry 200 Amps for as long as you are cranking, pull one of the ECU relays so it doesn't fire while you are testing.
