Doing errands..
« on: May 19, 2018, 04:55:55 PM »
Drove the Subaru Outback this morning, dropped my wife off at work then fueled the Outback and got her washed. Emma the puppy got her mandatory cookie from the Prime Shine carwash place.

Went back home and took the V7II to do some running around.

Went to the grocery store to pick up some dinner items. Older gentleman walked up and said he used to have a full dressed Guzzi back in the 70's. Enjoyed riding it but gave it up when he started a family. Said he wished he would have never done that! He liked the sound and looks of Olivia. Made me glad that when I met my wife it was understood that motorcycles would always be in my life and I wouldn't give them up. She agreed but took out a nice life insurance policy on me!!!

Next stop was the hardware store. Getting some parts to mount the National Cycle bags. Looks like it's going to work...will post pics when done.

Took the long way home going through the farmlands south of town. Just meandering....takin g whatever road looked good.

Grand total rode a whole 45 miles or so....and had a fun morning enjoying my bike. Just a wonderful machine.

Just goes to prove that rides don't have to be 200-300 milers. The short ones can be just as fun!!

No particular reason for this post....just enjoy every ride no matter the destination!!

Ride safe and often,

Jeff

Agreed! The 15 mile ride to pick up milk at the store 1 mile from the house is a favorite!

  me too. When I first met my now wife I was in the throws of building me Matchless special in my bedroom in the flat. At that stage I was hanging an AJS 7R in it. By the time we married it had the G3L back in it and during the wedding a telegram came from a mate who couldn't make it, "when the bike is back in the bedroom you know that the honeymoon is over".

Bike lives in the garage. I think it would be  :thewife: :thewife: :thewife: :violent1: :violent1: :violent1: if I brought it back inside.

I have several backroad routes that I use for mental health rides. 35 to 80 miles on a pretty day can turn a harried, frustrating day into some completely different...

Let's do some math Jeff ,1700 miles the short way from your place to Cedar Vale , that's only (hmm , carry the 2 , divide by 3.6) , well , 10 @ 170 mile errands

On our very first date I mentioned that I had a few bikes, expecting that Gail would frown. Instead she said "Take me for a ride tomorrow!" And that was that.

I love riding to get stuff.  Last weekend I rode to Lowes to get a bottle of roundup concentrate.  3 hours later, the wife says "what took you so long. I thought you were just going to Lowes". I replied, I did.  The Lowes in Joplin is real nice.

It would be no fun just riding to the Lowes 11 miles from home. I chose the one 70 miles away

That reminds me. I need wasp spray.....Later  :bike-037:
