'81 CX100
« on: May 20, 2018, 09:47:34 AM »
I rescued this CX last summer after the PO had been hacking it into a tracker style. The frame behind the shock mounts has been cut. I'm trying to figure out how to attach the seat and in corporate some sort of rear fender/light thingy.
I bought a black headlight bucket/rim from Ebay (China) and it looks like I got shorted fasteners and w-clips. No instructions and I'm trying to figure out how it is assembled. Does any one have any instructions or pics handy. My brief search didn't help.
Thanks, Chris

I've got a frame with good seat rails.  You could use the rails to reproduce yours.  That would solve the seat/fender part.  I've got no idea what you're talking about regarding the headlight.

Ok, I figured out the how it all goes together. I definitely got shorted some fasteners and there are two shouldered screws don't fit without drilling out. I can handle that, but kinda threw me. Is there usually a rubber seal between the Headlight and ring that secures it?
guzzisteve- Thanks for the links.
Antietam- I have clips coming. Thanks for the offer, I really appreciate it.
I'm located in Chatham/Hudson, NY. A little too far maybe to grab a frame (fotoguzzi & Rodekyll, thanks)
Radguzzi if you are willing to ship the cutoffs, I'm interested. Let me know what you need.

Yes. I’d try Harper’s for that piece.

Oh, yeah, I was thinking more like you take the entire frame, well, less the lowers that I do not have for that one.

Check into shipping from 04578 to you.

Best,

Chris,

You got that from my son in law. I wept when I saw what he did to it.

Bill, in my haste to pick it up, I forgot to grab the front fender. Not sure if he still has it or wants to let it go but I'm looking for one from an SP or CX.
AND my surname is Owens as well. Cheers!

A new "Bender" harness is on the list, but I'm searching blinkers now so I can get it registered and on the road.
Swapping the Bub's from my SP, figure out how to attach the seat and good to go hopefully.

Here's mine

No longer in the barn. Sold it about 12 years ago to a person in Naples Fla.
In the past there was a question that this model was never sold in the states in White colors. Well I have proof that they were. My original title from the original owner is listed as white and was not a repaint.
The US parts book lists all the colors that this bike may have been sold in.
Depending on what info you read there were about 350 units sold in the US so a good guess would be that most but not all were Red.

Also I have an original headlight gasket in the original package unopened. If your interested contact me through the message link on this board. Please include a phone number and ill call you. I prefer direct person to person only because im old fashion.

Im in Connecticut so eastern time zone,

Thanks

If anyone is interested I have, for some reason I can’t even begin to remember, got a pair of CX 100 heads rebuilt with ne valves, k-lines etc. in the shop. I discovered them last week while searching for heads for the 750S from Hell! If any originality fetishists want them i’m More than happy to sell or trade.
