V11S Came Home to Roost
« on: August 19, 2018, 09:33:05 AM »
I recently brought this super nice 2004 V11S home.  It was sold new out of the crate from Rosefarm in 2009.  I remember stopping by the shop and checking out the bike when it was being prepped.  It was sold to a very nice guy out in New Jersey.  The bike was rarely ridden, but very well taken care of, and serviced regularly at Fast by Ferracci even though it only had 819 miles on the clock in 9 years.

One of the coolest things about this bike is that the exhaust mods, race ECU setup, and dyno tune were performed by Eraldo Ferracci himself.  Eraldo's shop is quite close to the prior owners house.  The prior owner has known Eraldo for many years.   This engine really pulls strong, and of course sounds fantastic with the carbon fiber Mistrals.

An old buddy came with and we made the run from Illinois to New Jersey to pick it up.  The bike looks  brand new in every way.  The only thing it needs is new rubber.  The 15 year old original tires don't have much traction.  I have a new set of Pirelli Angel GT's to put on.

Very nice!  I wouldn’t hold FBF to such a high esteem.  Guzzi’s were an afterthought to them, and have heard many a horror story, myself included.  Probably why they went out of business. Hope your’s is sorted.

It seems very well sorted. The engine is very responsive with no stumbles anywhere.   Of course the initial setup out of the crate was performed competently at Rosefarm.

Dave, pretty bike, good luck.  I had an 04 Rosso Corsa and it was a very trouble free bike except for the speedometer which died at around 15,000 miles. Sorry I sold mine, even tried to talk the guy out of buying it when he showed up with cash.

What a gorgeous looking bike. Great purchase. Since it’s a 2004 did it have hydraulic valves?

God, what a beautiful machine.  I don’t take kindly to guys taking Guzzi’s out of my home state.  Damn, why didn’t I find it first!

That's a nice one !  It's got the good engine paint -- Congrats.  Will it get a "Roper Plate" ?

Will it get a "Roper Plate" ?

A few years ago there was "one last run" of Roper plates being made and I got in on it because I thought someday I might own a V11.   It just so happened that the prior owner also bought a Roper plate, but never installed it, so I have a spare :)

Now, you need the "unbreakable pawl spring" and "Lucky Phil extender." You'll be all set.

Chuck, I have 2 of the springs, but haven't heard of the Lucky Phil Extender.  What is that?

All of the relays have been upgraded to the "good ones".

It is the cleanest 15 year old bike I have ever seen.

The prior owner also installed a very sanitary rear drive and tranny breather system.

Dave, I think the penalty for finding this gem should be sitting back and admiring it for a minimum of 30 days before riding it.

snip

It's a 12mm extension on the end of the shift lever that makes shifting more precise. I did a couple of runs of new levers.  That, combined with the "Lucky Phil" blueprinted pawl lever makes the V11S shift very nicely indeed. There are threads about all this stuff on the V11 forum.

That is probably the nicest V11S that I’ve seen. The simple red paint scheme and those pipes really make it one gorgeous bike. Congrats!
