East Tennessee Smokies Fire - Damage is done but rains came

It's eery looking at that one photo, with the standing green timber still standing in the back ground,,, and yet a few feet away, anything man made, totally destroyed.
I've been around a few fires,,, I've never seen heat devastation like that.

Sounds like it was very lucky,,, that more people weren't killed or injured.

Chris. Glad you're insured and that's your second home.  Still, it's a tough blow and a challenge to get right.

Even worse for your friend.

That's for sure ... hard to realize what people will be going through unless you're there ... Fay's out to the disaster relief depot delivering a truckload of supplies from the church.   It's not much, but every little bit helps, and if enough people help, it'll get right ....

I heard on NPR this morning that two juveniles where charged with arson related to these fires.

Yes, unoccupied. We were on our way there, only a few minutes away when it burned.

I've never been one of her biggest fans, but Dolly Parton has just been fantastic.  She came from a very poor upbringing in East Tennessee and seems to genuinely care about the region. Telethon coming up, she already agreed to donate $1000/month for 6 months for every family affected.
