A G5 with TMI
« on: January 18, 2018, 02:23:08 PM »
This bike is a few hours away from me, but I am interested. Wish the CL ad had a few more details, and maybe a photo.

You're interested in a $6500 G5 that has no pictures or information at all?  I don't believe you.

I had a 1979 G5 many years ago, wish I didn't sell it. yeah, I am interested in finding out more details about the bike.

I don't really care if you believe me.

6500 bucks, no description and no photos. Not a chance. That guy is just trolling for a victim.

Alrighty.  It won't be the most unlikely thing I've heard today.

I think Matteo knows of a G5 for sale at about 20% of that cost.  It was under a tarp in Anchorage last I heard.

John,
Not a G5 however, this Convert has been on NH CL for ever, well months anyway.  It appears to be a bit more tatty than the asking price would warrant in my opinion but hey, Verts are kinda cool in a weird way.

Best,
Rob

Rob,

Thanks, yeah, I have noticed that one. The converts are interesting bikes, but I am a shifty guy, always have been.  :thumb:

I've been mildly interested in a Convert for years and I might go take a look at the one in Loudon this weekend.  I don't think I could bring myself to pay more than 1500 though since it's a 600lb scooter.

You might want to read up on Converts before you go to Loudon.  If you're expecting it to be a 600# scooter you're going to be disappointed.

I was trying to be a little bit funny.  I know it’s a lot more than that.  However, the novelty of it is what appeals to me.

I've seen that new hampster  ad for several YEARs now at that same price....

I'd pay that if it was clean, dry, running right, well cared for. Beats picking up a scorched one and dropping $2-3k, or several months not watching tv to get it to good shape

Only 15k on a bike that's gone a documented million miles....where has the red suspenders crowd gone?

Based on the location that bike might be in very good hands...that's sorta a pricey neighborhood. 50/50 odds of "I'll give you $500 for the carcass..." Or....it's worth $20k with all the upgrades and they just want to clean out the garage...

Don't think it's anyone we know from the CT cohort...
