Anzac Day
« on: April 24, 2018, 09:07:05 AM »
Tomorrow is Anzac Day, to remember the brave souls that served, originally in the Gallipoli campaign in 1915. Rough duty.

Thank you for the reminder.  I know it is close to our Memorial Day, May 30, but didn't know the exact date.

The contribution of the Commonwealth forces, particularly those from Australia, New Zealand, Canada and Newfoundland (separate at the time) is often underestimated or even forgotten.

Respect to them all, and particularly on this Anzac Day to those from Australia and New Zealand.

Odd to think that we are just 6 months away from the centenary of the official end of 'the war to end all wars'; Remembrance Day will be particularly notable this year...

Maybe in the US ... probably not in the Commonwealth countries!

100 years seems to go by in no time now.   People are riding 100-year-old motorcycles around.

It's amazing to me to think that if a guy had been in the right place, the same person could have talked to both Thomas Jefferson and Ronald Reagan in his own lifetime ...

RIP to the old soldiers of the ANZAC.

The museum in Canberra is awesome. I visited last summer and was very impressed. They sure put together a class museum and a class ceremony at the reflecting pool.

Its actually today time difference, while it origins are from WWI it is a point to remember all personnel we ended up partaking in right through to the current ones. Cheers for remembering! ....
