Cush drive in '97 and up 1100 sporti. Also, Helical gears in gear case(Sometime into 1997 after a particular serial number on box as early '97 were straight). With torque through helical gears, axial loads need a strong transmission case and shafts, this may add weight.
I just don't know that for sure (regarding cases).
Makes sense for the Daytona 1000 to weigh less than the RS because of the same reasons for the Sports.
I'll clarify. '93 Daytona 1000 weighs less than the '97 Daytona RS like the '95/'96 Sport weighs less than the '97 Sporti for probably the same reasons. Okay?
According to Cycle World's 1995 review, the Sport weighs 25 pounds less than the Daytona; less complicated frame cited.Kristian
That's interesting because the 1995 Daytona with its heavy 4V heads, heavy wheels etc is not likely to be lighter than a 1997 injected Sport, which is supposedly 33 lbs heavier than a 1995 carb Sport. Something doesn't add up, as I'd typically suspect when comparing measured weights from anything but a 'same day, same scale' comparison.
AGM battery compared with two 6V 12voltconventional batteries used on the carburated bike.
