SITO 2559?
« on: February 23, 2018, 02:59:50 AM »
I'm considering a set of SITO mufflers for my SP1000 instead of the well used lafranconis I have now. Does anyone know these? SITO 2559 DGM 39778S

I presume they are more scilent than Lafranconis but still seem to have a decent hole thorugh

I have seen them in the late 80's, a good quality as I remember. A little more flow than stock but not much on the Cal2 they were on.

Hi Perter

I had a pair of black chromed Sitos on my LM3 for some years. They were of the type TPSI 2559, just like these ones, not being aware of different types 2559 that might be out there:

As guzzisteve remembers, the quality was good. They were open right through, and not in any way more silent than the Lafranconi comp, and they had a nice snarling sound to them.

But as the years pass by, I`ve been wanting to go as silent as possible, and ended up with the standard LM1000 mufflers. Not only are they more silent, but I was also pleased to experience , together with the stock airbox, a significant torque boost. (I`m running 950s and the 8.1 torque cam-kit from HMB.)
So I`m not going to change anything on the engine- and breathing system specs no more, simply satisfied (took me some years and ), and along with a slowly fading wrenching enthusiasm, that suits me quite well ! :azn:

Hi Kidneb
I've got the mufflers today and they look great, NOS quality and probably never been run. But they look a bit longer than my lafranconi's and looking at your picture it seems you run with no or a very small "front crossover tube" or front muffler underneath the gearbox?

Do you remember how the setup was? I have a decent front muffler from my lafranconi LM1000 setup I would reuse but if I should do so, I have to fabricate brackets for the Sito mufflers or shorten the connections up so the match the rear footrest brackets.

Hi perter

What you see on my 1st picture with the Sitos mounted is just a straight and short thin walled H-piece (crossover),- I don't remember the brand, maybe a Stucchi.
With this short H-piece, the Sitos with their welded on brackets fitted right on to the LM3 stock footrest brackets, and for once I didn't have to fabricate anything to fit them.

Good luck fitting yours,- you're lucky to find such a pristine pair !
