Some people just HAVE to mention fast when it comes to bikes. I was at the counter of the Honda shop buying something, had ridden in on the 1000SP, and a guy comes up and asks if that was my red-and-white bike outside. I always enjoy talking to folks about bikes ... almost always. Usual questions and responses - I'll just quote the answers, everyone already knows the questions.
"Moto Guzzi actually makes it"
"Yes, it's actually a company, not a Honda model"
"No, they've been in business almost 100 years"
"No, not Japanese, European"
"Yes, they still make them"
Then the question "I'll bet it's really quick, isn't it?" "Not really, it's more of a touring bike" "But it's really quick?" "Not compared to some of the bikes in here, it's not" (sweeping my hand toward the Hayabusas, Repsol replicas, and Aprilia Tuonos).
"But I'll bet it's pretty quick, isn't it?" He wouldn't stop. Maybe he was just giving me a chance to brag on how fast my bike is, since that's what most motorcyclists of his acquaintance do.
"Yeah, it's pretty quick, yep" and he was satisfied. Friendly guy but hard to talk to ... !
