The EV has some odd looking blemishes on the covers and I would like to clean that up. The surface of the HB bags is an odd thing to try and match or replicate.
Has anyone here tried the Rhino Liner Coating or similar…? Results…? Cautions… Prep…?
Thanks, Rob

I tried a diy version of that on a scrtached up bag - didn't turn out well (flaked where I hadn't roughed up the bag enough with sandpaper) - but I was trying to feather it out from the scratched area and not coat the whole thing.
There was a gal on here with a Norge about a year ago who had it professionally done on some BMW bags and maybe on her Norge bags too I forget, but she said she had good results.

Thoses are good threads... but I need to know how the prep goes and how well the stuff sticks on bags that have that texture vs smooth painted surfaces. I have not checked over at the Adv... I will go ask around. Thanks, Rob I did some with rustoleom hammertone spray black and it held up well.
gearman, Did you do that on the HB bags...? How'd it go...? How is it holding up...? Thanks, Rob

I think the Rhino Liner is a cold application and tends to run and thicken in spots. Line-X is a hot application and dries faster and remains an even application.

Second on the Line-X. This is what we use on our trucks, Also use it on the lower edges of the toolboxes in the shop. Prep time is a little more, like a regular paint prep. It is a 2 part epoxy. See if any local shops that do it would oblige this project while doing a larger project. Cleanup time is still x amount for a large or small job and it takes 5? gallon container either way, so if they have extra for one they could roll it into yours, It is a use it or lose it material...

So the Line-X is not a DIY type of thing...? That is actually ok with me, I hate prepping for paint... I'll have a look around the area for shops that apply it. What is meant by a Hot Process...? Literally heat the thing to be coated or what...? Thanks, Rob

Charlie, I found a couple of Line-X shops in the area, one fairly close. They have a photo gallery and I noticed some stuff other than truck beds that they do... http://www.line-x.com/ImageGallery/index.htm Nothing mentioned anywhere that I could find regarding a"Hot" application but I gotta believe that if they can do that speaker, the HBs won't be a problem... They do talk about the process being "Dry" and dries very quuickly. Thanks a bunch for the tip. Best, Rob

It just dawned on me that Line-X might be a good coating for SCUBA tanks, or any other compressed air tank, for that matter. i saw some pictures of some wheels on an H3 Hummer that had been Line-X'd. They looked sharp. It might be something to keep in mind for those of us with CARC bikes that might need re-coating some day.

Line-X and other professionally applied coatings, such as Vortex, use an applicator machine that heats, mixes and applies the material which cures quite fast.

put a pretty long scratch on a HB bag on my EV pulling out the garage and scraping the brick corner next to the garage door. Those bags are always wider than I imagine.
anyway, very attentive to know a way to put some texture over that scratch.
I used some of the black polish for those old gray plastic 1980-style car bumpers. It didn't last too long.
