$1000 Moto Guzzi Eldorado-Louisville Craigs list

Louisville, Ky Craigs list

1974 Moto Guzzi Eldorado 850. Actually a 1973 but the title says 1974. This is a restoration project looking for an owner. The bike has not been ridden for about 10 years. It has been garage kept and all regular maintenance was performed until I stopped riding it. It has some rust spots and would need new rubber due to its age. Dealers who worked on it said it was one of the best running ones they'd ever seen. I have the single "police" saddle for it as well as the bench seat pictured. It doesn't have a battery so you're not going to ride off on it. I no longer have the time or inclination to restore it so I'm letting it go. It was my first bike. It has 42000 miles--hardly broken in for a Guzzi!

I got the money, but should I let it go?  Maybe buy it and flip it.

Disc-brake and "police" bits? Looks like a screaming good deal to me!

Hmm, my sister lives about a 100 miles away, wonder if she'd go buy it for me?  ;D

I'm going to look at good running and riding Eldo this weekend, also $1000, but it doesn't look nearly that nice.

buy it!! seriously. Doesn't look like a 'restoration project' to me. Throw a battery in, clean the carbs, change fluids...RIDE. (that will cost what, $150 bucks?)
if it were in seattle I'd already be riding it.

i've seen people spend a grand on getting the disk front brake done...that sure doesn't look like a restoration project

It sure is ashame how many motorcycles for sale that have been sitting for anywhere from a year to 20 years, maybe it would be better for motorcycles if they were a lot more expensive? How often do you read about a car for sale that has been just sitting for 10 years?

On Bring-A-Trailer: http://bringatrailer.com/ it's not uncommon to read about long neglected cars, so it's not just a motorcycle thing or even related to value. More than a few Ferraris, Maseratis, etc. have been stashed away in warehouses and left to rot.

On a backroad outside of Frederick, MD, there's a '76 Porsche 911 Turbo (930) that's been sitting in front of the same house, never moving for the last 25 years. The whole property is littered with more common vehicles that are suffering the same fate. Back when I was driving by every day on my way to work, it was evident how they end up that way - something breaks or he gets them stuck, so rather than fixing them or getting them pulled out, he just buys another.

Example: Back around '04 he bought a long-wheelbase Ford Econoline van new. We had a period of high winds and heavy rains and the roof of his house suffered some damage to the shingles. So, he pulls the van into the (soggy, soft) backyard and backs it up to the house, climbs on top of it, then onto the roof. Places bricks on all the spots where shingles had blown off and then gets the van stuck trying to get back out. There it still sits, up to axle in the yard (bricks are still on the roof of the house too). Two days later another new car (Hyundai) appeared in the driveway. The guy definitely has a screw loose. He won't sell any of the vehicles and it's not because he "plans to fix them up one day" like so many in similar situations, it's like he's punishing the vehicle for breaking or getting stuck.  ::)

I guess Orange Guzzi bought the Eldo , I tried but he had a commitment to sell already . Ican not believe 78 miles from my house and never knew about it . Well, I hope the buyer enjoys it . The seller told me the buyer has been working in Guzzis for 30 years  ! Never have met him .

We have a warehouse here in Muskogee that has at least 50 fairly exotic cars in it . Looks like an old derelict building . Maybe that is by design .
