First Year with V7 Stone
« on: December 31, 2014, 05:00:22 PM »
Well, here it is New Year's Eve, and I'm looking back on the 2014 riding season.

Wife got me a beautiful new 13 Stone from MPH; Mike delivered it to me towards end of December 2013.  I'm now looking at 22,014 miles on the odometer.

Yeah, I like this bike!  And the more I ride it, the more I like it.

No, I think that white Guzzi in your picture belongs to Georganne (Beaver) the Texas MGNOC rep out of Lindale.  We were both at the Iowa rally, but my Stone has a cheap aftermarket black bikini fairing.

Here's a pic of it en route to Iowa:

Another in an Iowa cornfield:

This seems to be my only photo of the bike at the Iowa rally:

Bonus points for identifying the whereabouts or significance of this photo, which I also took as part of the Iowa trip:

Nice looking setup you have there!  ;-T

I tried a few other accessories before settling on the same bikini fairing (best bang for the buck), and a friends old Craven saddlebags, that I refinished.

Heres an 4 year old pic of her......

Since that pic was taken, I have done a few other changes to improve the ergos, fuze box, heated grips, lowered pegs, shocks, signals ......  ;D

King of Fleece: I think mine is a cheap Emgo fairing I got off EBay for about $55.   I had to fabricate an additional attachment point on the bottom to make it more securely attached, but it has worked great.

It keeps the sunlight glare, rain and road crap off the instrument cluster.  And it breaks up the wind well at chest level, while giving me a clean and non-buffeting airstream at helmet level.

Plus, I just think it looks cool.  Sorta reminiscent of the BMW R90/S I lusted for in my teenage years but could not afford.

Penderic,

I replied to a post of yours on Advrider.

I am looking at putting a set of Craven Comets on my new V7iii Anniversario.  I don't know how these bags mount.  Could you post a photo of your mounts?

Also, is your rear rach a MG rack or a HB rack.  It is exactly what I am looking for.

For that matter, I am also interested in lowered pegs and heated grips.
Thanks!

The rear rack is MG. The HB rack has another bar about four inches above the rack that positions and holds their top case.
I put MG off road pegs on my V7ii to lower my feet about 1/2 inch. Had to lower the brake pedal also.
I have BikeMaster heated grips - they work well and have five heat setting plus off. Wire them to a switched circuit. They remember the last setting when you turn the grips on again. They are about 2mm larger diameter than the OEM grips - that was good for me. Their newest model has a volt meter in the controller - wish I had that.

Thanks for the info.

Questions  - any difference in chrome quality between the MG & HG racks?
Also, what circuit did you wire your heated grips into?

Don't know anything about the chrome. I have black.
BTW, if you add HB sidecase racks you need to use a HB tail rack because of interference with the MG rack.
For the heated grips I installed a Fuzeblock and have them on switched power. The Fuzeblock connects to the battery and needs a sense wire to a switched circuit. I don't remember where I did that.
