"How much is my bike worth on trade?"
« on: January 27, 2015, 11:55:09 AM »

If you are looking for a California 1400 the short answer to the above question is, at least $2,000.00.  That is what Guzzi will pay you to trade in anything with a title for a new Cali.  Plus Great financing.  Check with you dealer before March 31.

Yep, we're doing this deal and Guzzi USA has been great about it. KBB trade in value + $2000 on anything brought in with a KBB over $2000. 0.9% for 36 months or 3.99% for 60 months.

I'm confused. Is it $2,000 for anything with a title or does it have to have a KBB retail/trade value of $2,000 to get $2,000?

They will match the value of your trade up to $2000

Example:

Bring in a Beater that's only worth $800 and they'll give you $1600 towards your Cali 1400.

Bring in a nice bike that's worth $7000 and they'll give you $9000 towards your Cali 1400.

We had a guy who bought a Harley Sportster 2 years ago and spent $13,000 otd. Well, KBB on it was only $8k or so, giving him $10k on the trade made him much happier and got him on a Guzzi.

Or, bring in no trade and take $1500 of the bike. All other deals still apply.

I'm guessing that the better deal for Guzzi would be to give you $2000 if you brought this thing in, and $2500 if you left it home and they didn't have to pay the landfill fees ... !

Oh man... So with my Buell it would be like $7k for a Cali Custom, and with my Sportster it would be $5k. :o

Oh well, timing isn't right anyway....

But I hope some people take advantage of the deal!

The Guzzi deal says they will allow $2,000.00 for any trade in. No mention of KBB or anything else just they (Guzzi) will add to any trade-in a sum of $2,000.00 when trading for a California model year 2014.
They will do $1,500.00 with no trade so if you plan on trading it is even a better deal. If you don't have a trade you still have them dropping $1,500.00 to help the deal.
As a dealer we are kicking in $1,500.00 as long as they last.  We give 10% off M-G accessories at time of purchase.

M-G is serious with low financing rates.

I'm no math whiz but I can take $1,500 off the price with no trade or I can trade in my $800 bike and get $1,600 off the price. Seems as though I am only getting $100 for my $800 bike.

Even the Harley example the guy got an additional $500 not $2,000. The $1,500 incentive was always there.

How is the trade in valued? I have a 1975 850T that I value at $20,000 + the $2,000 from Guzzi I have $22,000 burnin' a hole in my pocket. I'll be by tomorrow to pick up my new Cali. If you don't have enough cash in the till you can just write me a check for the difference

If your bike is worth $800.00 they will add $2,000.00 to that for a total of $2,800.00.

Perazzimx14,
That would be great but trade in vehicles are not legal tender if they were you could take them to the bank and deposit them.  A deal placing a value on a vehicle being traded in is up to the judgement of the dealer and buyer together.  Of course everyone knows this.

No it evolves around M-G kicking in some cash.  My original post and picture was kind of a joke but not really because, as it was explained to me, there are very little in the way or qualifiers in the trade-in deal.

This really boils down to $500 over what you negotiate your trade in value to be. A value that will most certainly be $100's or possibly $1,000's under retail.

The $1,500 is there if you do or don't trade.

That is pretty much it.
For a person who is trading anyway this adds another $500.00 incentive above no trade at all, is this a BAD thing?

But no when you boil it down, regardless of the trade you can negotiate any deal you (the dealer) or the customer wants/can, but it boils down to valuing the trade..

If the dealer negotiates a trade value that is $2k less than market, the +$2k is meaningless.

OK.   Trade my EV for $3k and $2k from Guzzi? ($5k tot)

what about the other $1500?

Ok, sorry for any confusion....

If you bring in your $500 beater - You're getting $2500 off the Cali 1400

If you bring in your $4500 daily driver - You're getting $6500 off

If you bring in your $12,000 Harley - You're getting $14,000 0ff

If you bring in NOTHING - You're getting $1500 off.

Pretty simple, Huh?

So, bring in your beater, or bring in nothing, or get more money for your trade than someone else was offering. Or who cares? It's a screaming deal. And it won't be around after March.

PS - We're going to be recording the ClevelandMoto podcast from the Cleveland Motorcycle Show this weekend. Anyone who would like to hook up and participate in the podcast is more than welcome to contact me at clevelandmoto@gmail.com
