All,

Got looking at MV Augusta's again, and turned this puppy up:

Pretty cool hybrid: the hot triple 800 engine with signature pipes, a bit of fairing, a nice wind screen, and little bags big enough to maybe hold half a bottle of Chianti and some condoms? I think it is a very interesting bike from a signature Italian builder.

Looking deeper in Houston: voila we have a new MVA dealer. The old dealer lost the franchise (owner murdered, no kidding). I tested a MVA B3 675 there last year and they were very kind and professional. Liked the bike a lot, but did not like forums saying the mapping sucked and sprag clutch broke.

So, here we are in 2015: new MVA dealer down freeway, and they even have some new bikes, including this Stradale. Seat is probably too high for me though, but the 675 still twists my heart a bit.

Temps are supposed to drop 40F and have 40 mph winds tonight. But maybe this weekend I might ride down to our local MVA dealer and sniff again. Choosing between the B3 675 and a Ducati Monster

I would choose the MV if the new dealer is competent and issues resolved. MV does indeed have style.

My beloved 2012 Moto Guzzi V7R would stay in the garage, and have a mate.

Still thinking about the Indian Scout. They remain unavailable. The Scout is another whole different kind of bike than the triples or Duc. But it interests me.

Yeah, got the second bike bug. Always wanted a triple.

The Triumph looks like the winner in the real world. The last Monster I test sat had exhaust pipe interference with the right peg- no good.

The Triumph is fast, sporty, and reliable. Cheaper too. Any of the three will be a huge performance upgrade to the V7.

STR = head ;-T

MVA = heart ~;

May go test ride the Triumph. Never done that. Was on my short list for years. I see they have a new special edition.

I'd have to be *very* comfortable with the dealer's mechanic. Those suckers are just loaded with electronic things that I'm totally clueless about..

I stopped in my MV dealer a couple of weeks ago asking about the new Turismo Veloce. Maybe in the fall they said.
But the owner had very nice words for the Stradale. One of their better models I think.

FWIW: Motorcycles are not toasters. I'm usually happiest when I buy with my heart and not my head.

my son has an 08 Street Triple.
it has performed flawlesly since new.
its running around Hawaii now(he's in the Navy)
I've ridden it a few times and it sure is quick and smooth

Pretty tarted up with the matte silver and red. I like it. Hmmph.

One motivation: driving my bmw cage last week commuting on slick roads: cut off by merge traffic and those ABS brakes did their thing.
Got my attention.

The Triumph STRX is very refined indeed: polished and tweaked. Hmm. Very light. Wonder how it feels? Lot of bike for the money.

The Triumph falls into a different category than the MV . Mary Ann on a strict workout and diet regimen :D Fast , athletic , relatively low maintenance , and fun to ... well you know ;D

Reading more and viewing tests: lot of people love these bikes.
Seat height is pretty up there for a short fire plug person of questionable character like moi.

But, I might investigate further. Sat on a STR once, and it seemed high. Some put a lowering link on, but that can be a handling issue and also requires a chopped stand, etc. Pretty much concluded, once again: the best triples out there are the Triumph triples.

Need to feed grandpa. The Alzheimer's is relentless. He had a really bad day yesterday. Lots of family moving parts right now all of a sudden.
