Forum crash, restoration, FYI
« on: May 25, 2015, 12:36:29 PM »
All, the forum crashed early this morning.  I tried for hours to fix the corruption but was unable to.  So, I had to restore it back a couple days.  Good thing about restores.

So, anything posted, or changed after 5-24-2015 at 3PM will not be here.  You'll have to re-do what you done.

Thanks,
Luap

Oh yeah.  The search feature is not working at this time.  I am still working on that one.

 Thanks Luap for getting the site re-wound. Appreciate all your hard work for us. Looking back over some of the posts, kinda like Groundhog Day ~;

I have corrected the errors with search now and it seems to be working ok.  Enjoy.

I do enjoy.   I know that there will sometimes be issues with the software that you manage, and I possess my soul in patience until the the fixes are complete.

One question - Sometimes (like once this morning) I get an "Internal Server Error" message, and it says "if this happens again" (which it often does), "send a note to the WebMaster at this address"  and it gives a link.

Does it help you at all to diagnose or trend issues if we send you (I assume it's you) a note on that link?   Or is it like "Yeah, yeah, I know it's fouled up, just gimme a minute" going through your mind if you see one of those?

Just seeing the best way to help ...

That explains a great deal.
However I still get:
- a great many 'server errors'
- email notifications directing me to the wrong page
- email notifications taking me to the beginning of a thread rather than to the relevant message.

Sounds like you are having fun.

No need to contact me.  The system emails me already.

That explains a great deal.

Certain server errors are normal.  The server has a feature built in to keep it from overloading.  Usually just waiting a bit is all you need to do.

Dont know about the email notification thing.  First I've heard of it.  I'll look at that when I get a 'chance'.

The email thing may have been due to pages/posts disappearing.

Although I'm a "board donor," I consider that you're basically doing this out of the good of your heart (and love of Guzzis). So if the site crashes now and then, so be it. I'm just happy you run it.
