Usual disclaimers.

Looks like it has one of those super cool billet oil filters.  Worth the asking price alone.

That's a pretty low price.  Anyone know anything about this bike?  I've emailed the seller to see if he'll ship it.

Not a ride for most.  Most of you old guys are better off looking at it vs. riding one. Oh...wait a minute that includes me.  :-)  Fun ride takes some redoing the organic ecu to ride long distance. :thumb:

Believe all '93 models were red with white wheels. About 20 black 'Dr John' special editions were sold in the UK, guessing this was painted to match them.
Seems underpriced.

Wonder what the VIN is?  It's still nice even though it's not the faster red color.

Be still, my beating heart.

Can someone remind me whether the Griso 1200 can outperform this thing in any way?

Griso 1200 = Daytona for old men?

It should.  If this one was retuned to match the exhaust then maybe not.

I wonder if it is the one that was in SoCal? Seems like too much of a coincidence.. black with one of those (ahem) lifetime oil filters. If so, I know a little about it, but nothing I'd put in a forum.

You're thinking this was the black Daytona that was offered a few years ago with a replacement block, and pieces of the blown motor?

yeah. Somebody else put it together for Mark, installed the flywheel wrong.  I R&Red the flywheel, replaced a broken belt, retimed it and put it back in the frame. Had to leave, so didn't get to hear it run, but Mark said it started right up, and the owner was happy with it. FWIW, it looked like a nice bike..

The asking price the last time around was a lot more than $5300.  I'd be interested in this one, but I think I'd need to see and hear it before I wrote the check.  I wonder what has happened to it since the last sale.

Daytona Colors.

Anything other than a red Daytona of any year is rare, I think.

I am not as familiar with the early block tail Daytona's as I am with the '97 RS.

Was the '97 RS ever produced in yellow and black as well as the red? I recently had a conversation with a nice man who swore the '97 was imported into the US in all three colors. All the brochures only showed red.

I know the 1100 Sport was produced in various colors. I think I've seen black as well as red and also silver on those. Maybe the early Daytona models were offered in yellow and black but I am not aware that such was the case with the '97 RS.

Does anybody know?

Daytona's only came in red except for the Dr. John replica from 1996 which was available in black with gold decals. Sports came in yellow, red and black and blue. This bike was a biposto conversion. see details here. http://www.bike-urious.com/1993-moto-guzzi-daytona-1000/

What Turin said on the colors.  '93 came out in red with white wheels later with dark grey wheels.  IIRC '94.  The Sports 1100 in different colors from '95.  I've seen and owned the Daytona's in red.  Even the '97 RS.  Which are all fun to ride.

I live in Houston.  I too have been following this Daytona.   I emailed to see if it was for sale.  He gave a one word affirmative.   I emailed to look at it...nothing.  At the same time,  it was also for sale in craigslist on the east coast.

I say...

I would like to look at the bike.

They say...

In this moment the location of the bike is Portland, OR ready to go. The bike is being sold as described, clear title, no mechanical issues, everything is in great condition and has been recently serviced.
If you want to find out more details about how we can close up this deal contact me.

Thank You,

There's a black Daytona on eBay right now that I'm sure I've seen before.  I don't think this is the one with the rebuilt motor.  Anyone recognize this bike?

Clearly the same bike as the one on Houston CL.  Someone has removed the Termigoni stickers, though.  I wonder what the real story is.

The answer from the ebay seller:

That "ad" is a fraud. It is the same bike. It is also a portion of the Craigslist ad I answered two years ago when I bought it. This MG has not left the SF Bay Area for at least 3-4 years and has been with me in SF for the last two years. I bought it on CL from a gentleman in El Cerrito back then.
This "ad" even uses a portion of my seller's text and all of his photos! I hate criminals on Craigslist.
