Griso / Norge Swing Arm Removal Stand

I think I finally have the stand to a point where I want it, It's very easy to make with simple tools
The idea is to provide a means of lifting the rear wheel without hydraulic aids like a jack or lift table.
It's possible to raise the rear wheel in about a minute flat for changing tires or removing the rear swing arm.

The large hole in the left hand lift plate is to allow for removal of the rear swing-arm pivot bolt.

If you are going to remove the rear swing arm remove the plate first.

I see it now. I didn't see the first photo earlier. How do you put it "on the stand"?

First of all you bolt the two side plates to the bike (short on left side because it's closer to ground), just finger tight
Place the 3 x 3 block in front of left plate
Grab left handle bar and under the seat then stand bike up on right side plate, slip block under with foot
I had thought of an arrangement to let the block swing under the stand when lifted but I don't think its necessary.

To remove from stand, make sure prop stand is extended, tilt bike over on RH plate and kick block out
let back down onto stand. The bike is not that heavy, it's just tilting, not lifting, ends up with the rear wheel about 1/2" off.

I used to have an MV Augusta that came with a paddock stand that slid on from one side to allow for removal of the rear wheel from the single sided swing arm.
How would something like that go if redesigned to go through the frame? I have forgotten, does the left side mounting plate have to come off ?

Yes I think it does have to come off, the bolt comes out the left hand side, you can see a round casting in the side plate that co-encodes with the swing-arm bolt but I don't think it comes off. There are 4 or 5 bolts to remove before you can remove the peg plate.
Yes you could make a single sided plate but it would need to be pretty beefy perhaps 3/4" solid bar and metal an inch thick, I wanted to use wood because everyone has access to it and simple tools.
Of course you are only going to remove the foot-peg once every year or so for greasing the swing-arm, removing the rear wheel is much simpler. 
I won't rule out buying one of the metal ones that fit to the bolts under the gearbox but I don't think they allow for removing the swing arm.

This was never intended to use as a racing stand LOL, just a means of safely removing the swing arm or back tire.
