Love those copper gaskets

Just recently I had the heads and barrels off my LM1 to deal with oil blowing past the rings. At the same time the heads were refreshed with new guides, a valve regrind etc. I reassembled with copper gaskets and I am very pleased with their stability as after 3 torque checks/retorque, the valve adjustment specs are super stable. I have used copper gaskets before on my brit bikes with good results so I am not entirely surprised. The site I got them from is :
http://www.coppergaskets.us/
if anyone is interested. The gaskets they show so far are for roundfins, but the site states they would make gaskets upon request. I got mine from their Ebay store. No affiliation, just passing info to fellow guzzisti

Why did the manufacturers get away from the Copper head gaskets?

What thickness head and base gaskets did you use? They have quite a selection of thicknesses. I like the fact that they are re usable. Some times I have wanted to pull a head for this or that reason, and have hesitated due to the gaskets not being re usable.

The ones I used are .042. Round fins ( 89mm) and square (92.7mm) are offered. The round fin 83 mm is not offered or the smaller square fin type ,but , with a sample they should easily be made up as well as other thickness sizes. They are in Phoenix so turnaround should be fairly quick (?)
