A NEW LIFE FOR BSA MOTORCYCLES?The big news is the Indian tractor giant Mahindra purchased the BSA brand in October 2016 with big plans to start producing BSA motorcycles again in India. Mahindra has been producing small 2-stroke commuter bikes and scooters for years, so this is their play to move upmarket. They certainly have the money, the technical and production capacity and the market reach to make it work.
Interesting that the retro Gold Star puts out 45 or so HP, where the retro Enfield single is only 29 or so.
looks nice....but the more I look, the more it seems like a caricature of the original with it's pudgy parts...
There is no "retro Enfield single" in the current US line-up except the 350 Meteor.
This is the Enfield I was thinking of - 535cc, fuel injection, 29 or so HP.I thought the new Gold Star was 500cc like the original.
I think this new BSA is worthy of a closer look..."pudgy-parts" and all!
My opinion is like what journalist Peter Egan said " never trust a bike you can't see through" But since I don't own new or even late models, I can say whatever
650 single? I hope it has a balancer and an electric starter.
Charlie, I've checked with a couple of local RE dealers and they don't know (or can't say) whether the new RE 350 Classic will be brought to the U.S. That one, although, it is only a 350 strikes the right chords with me. I hope that we see it soon, but now I hope we see this new BSA soon too..."if wishes were fishes..."
The RE forum I am on tells me the Classic 350 is coming to the USA. And if it is on the internet it must be true...............Scott
The RE 350cc "Meteor" is already available now...Very cute little bike for around town, but totally "ANEMIC" for the freeways...(IMHO)
But the Classic is not. Not everyone has to ride the freeways/interstate to get somewhere (thank goodness).
