No high beam
« on: November 28, 2015, 07:42:49 PM »
Could a dirty contact in the ignition switch cause my high beam to stop working?
Blue indicator light (high beam) on dash not coming on either.

Thanks..

Replace the headlight.

Will that make the indicator light come on?

This is an 07 Norge
http://www.thisoldtractor.com/guzzi007/schematics/2007_Norge.gif
It looks as though the high beam indicator is independent of the lamp itself,
See if you can locate the white wire and measure the Voltage to chassis
Some of the Norges have 2 headlight relays.

It may be the dimmer switch or wiring.

Looking at the schematic again it seems as though there are 2 different fuses associated with the headlights, the Low beam circiut goes through the relay R4
Check all your fuses

Check if high beam comes on with the flasher button. If it does, then it's probably the high beam dip switch. If it doesn't it's probably a relay.

Sorry, should have specified this problem is on my 02 EV. I'll check tomorrow on some of the suggestions. Is there a good tutorial on cleaning the contacts in the ignition switch.

Thanks!!

Handlebar switch.

Not likely do have anything to do with the ignition switch.

Might be the connector or a bad wire going to the handlebar.

Oh I got it but it's really dated a ways back.
I figure anybody who wears suspenders got it.

OK the results........loos e wire in the harness going to the headlight from handlebar switch. Now the high beam light and indicator light are coming on....all is good!!

It was Tareyton cigarettes, in the 1960's way, way, before my time, but I heard there is a youtube on the "I'd rather fight than switch" slogan coined by, no doubt, some Madison Avenue executive. They were knee deep in cigarette ad money then, or so I've heard.......now to find my suspenders.
Thanks all   ...........Tim
