Weight And Age
ff73148:
I ride a 2016 Eldorado. I turn 76 at the end of the month. The Eldorado is not the heaviest bike but it's not light either. I keep thinking that at this age I should be looking at a lighter bike. But when I ride my Eldorado I absolutely love the way it handles and the weight of the bike eats up the road. I've put a California touring seat and and Matris shocks on it to increase my comfort. What are other riders my age riding and why?
Tkelly:
Age is only a number,if the Eldo still works for you why switch?I was thinking this would be my last year on my 14 Stelvio as I turn 80 next year.It broke down on the way home from a big Western trip but I handled it ok until then.If I can fix it I will ride it,otherwise maybe an 850.

I did some rides with guys in their early 80s that were riding Harley Full dressers like they were in their 30s on the twisty mountain roads in the Tennessee/ North Carolina mountains.

I just returned from a ride on my 16 Eldo. Our weather is perfect today for the first time in a while, mid 70s and low humidity. I live for riding days like this as the feel of the air is perfect, like swimming in water that is the perfect temp. I am almost 66 and I feel the weight when maneuvering in the garage. But once the clutch is out, it is perfection. I was just going 45 or so in 5th gear on little country roads and it was sublime. I traded a 1400 custom in 2019 for a V85 and loved that one too until I felt it was too tall. But the pull of the 1400 brought me back. I will probably keep this one until I can't manage it anymore.

Eldo ’16 here too!
And a Yamaha Majesty Scooter for around town fun.
The Eldo is big for sure but wears it’s weight well. At least for me at this point of my riding career. In my north 60’s.
Got a ’23 V85 for sale. As Blu Guzz says. got a little too tall for me too.
