2023 V85 Decat
QuickLime:
I got a decent price on the Mistral headers and I thought the quality seemed the best so I went with them. Before purchasing, I contacted a few of the popular companies to get more info - all three claim to use 304 stainless, and the claimed IDs are listed below. Guareschi never responded to my emails, but their bundle with the UpMap is a solid deal - aside from the tariff's you'll have to pay now.
Mistral - 42mm ID
Agostini - 38mm ID
Arrow - 44mm ID
For the tune itself, I went with the UpMap, which I purchased from AF1. Flashing the bike was easy, and it's hard to describe what an improvement it was on my '23. I ran it with the decat and no tune for probably 6 months, but the tune made it run smoother, cooler, and it's definitely a bit faster - not a ton, but noticeable for sure. The throttle mapping is smoother/less jerky, and I notice much less vibration while riding, especially on the highway - for example: the mirrors are much clearer at 60-75mph on the highway, where before they were often a bit fuzzy from vibrations. If I'd read someone say that before, I would have assumed it was just placebo, I was pretty amazed.

So you did full mistral with the "up map" did you have the Velocity stack or the twin boost? Is the map you used specific to the Mistral exaust?

I have Mistral headers/decat, stock muffler, and an UpMap with a Zard tune. The V-Twin boost is a cheaper spoof solution than the UpMap which is a true tune and (likely - but impossible to verify) changes fuel mapping and ignition timing. The velocity stack could help a bit, velocity stacks are designed to optimize airspeed at certain RPM ranges, so usually they're tuned for more low end, midrange, top-end, etc - but unless you have fancy variable length stacks (very expensive, but cool) you're making a sacrifice somewhere for a gain elsewhere - but not necessarily a straight "upgrade" if that makes sense.

Is the hard tune kind of a general tune? Would you use that map with Arrow headers?

The Zard tune was developed by Guareschi as far as I'm aware, and yes I would use the same one personally. Any off the shelf tune won't be perfect for all bikes/parts etc. but usually they get close enough. There are a few Zard tune options in the UpMap catalog so it depends which one you want to go for. I believe there are a couple created for people running a decat.
