Have others besides me made the first Datil rally that the late Dan and Cynthia Standlee hosted? I remember the amount of stuff they brought from their home in Las Cruces including donuts. The nearest donut shop to Datil is 50 miles to the east in Soccoro.

Never met either of them, and I understand they were both wonderful and caring people, and I think it is great that Matt, Stephan, and team have continued this annual rally in New Mexico going forward...

When Richard and Faye make it, Richard will be on a V85TT. He wadded up his Cal 1400 Touring about a month ago in Wisc. Fortunately, he only had scratches, no broken bones. He and the bike alley ooped 3 or 4 times. He had full coverage. I told him that it's not an option he should try too many times to get a new bike.

Yes, I know the whole story...and he is very, VERY lucky! Morale of the Story:

1. Don't put an automotive tire on the back of a motorcycle, and...

2. Don't drag the pegs...riding too fast and beyond your talents... thinking you are Valentino Rossi...

Wrong bike for the type of riding he wants to do. Maybe the V85TT will suit his needs better. I've ridden his Cal 1400 Touring w/car tire. I don't think that was the problem. More the machine itself. An Eldo 1400 would been a better choice.
