PE250 1938
« on: July 13, 2019, 01:59:19 AM »
I just bought a PE250 from 1938. Does anyone know of a workshop manual? Any information (tap clearance, oil,.....) would be very appreciated. Thank you.

Cool!  :gotpics:

Parts book:
http://www.rpw.it/Files/Guzzi_175-P250_CPR.pdf

I don't see a manual, but it evolved into the 250 Airone, so should be similar.  Airone manuals here:
http://www.rpw.it/Documentazione.htm

And here:
http://alzavalvole.it/manuali-moto-d-epoca.html

This is the earliest Airone shop manual I could find.  It has the exposed valves like the pre-war bikes so valve clearances are probably the same.
http://www.rpw.it/Files/Guzzi_Airone%201947%20-%20(testa%20scoperta)%20Uso%20e%20manutenzione.pdf

Page 22 shows that the valve clearances for the Airone are the same as the exposed valve GTV = 0.002" (0.05mm) intake and 0.012" (0.3mm) exhaust.

The Guzzi single cyl. Google group is very helpful:

40 weight oil containing a zinc phosphate additive package to prevent scuffing is commonly used.  I use Valvoline 40wt. VR-1 "Racing" oil available in the USA.

Go join the Guzzi-Singles forum on Google Groups and ask there.  Lots of resources.
