Bungendore in the news, again!
« on: July 14, 2019, 10:05:25 PM »
Well on Sunday a whole load of federal coppers all armed to the teeth turned up and raided the landscape supplies depot just over the road from my workshop!

Turns out that they had just been delivered some sort of large mechanical device, a digger or bulldozer or some such that was shipped in from, (I think.) South Africa.

Turns out said earth moving device also contained an additional 380Kg (!) of Bolivian Marching Powder! I don't know what sort of equipment it was exactly but even so! Where the hell do you hide 380Kg of Coke in a tractor!?!?

Needless to say they weren't open for business today! I find it unlikely that the business owner is actually directly involved it's only a small business, he wouldn't have the cash or contacts to aquire that sort of narcotics any more than I would. At least I wouldn't think he would? Perhaps I'm in the wrong game? Perhaps there's millions to be made selling old railway sleepers and mulch!

To answer my own question it seems they hid the gear in the boom.

Interesting that

Long time ago I heard a story of a regiment of the British Army coming back from maneuvers in Europe and decided to hide some "gear" in the boom of the mobile crane they had taken with them

HMRC got wind of this and as it landed ordered them to raise the boom on the crane.

Apparently a large quantity of perfume, fags, loose tobacco and single malt whisky fell out and smashed on to the ground

Hiding it in the tyres would be what I’d try.

Back in 1974 or 75 my Dad was on deployment in Japan.

He bought a Honda CB550K and stored it in the Main Load Center in the P-3 Orion.

Put a "Top Secret" label on the door. Hence no import tax!!

That bike became mine and put many wonderful miles on it.

Times were different back then....

Our border guys intercepted a big stash hidden in the sump of an engine in the boat itself.

My first suspect would be one of the engineers.

380 kilos? Light-weights!

This happened just a couple weeks ago about 200 miles south of me.

https://philadelphia.cbslocal.com/2019/06/21/historic-cocaine-bust-at-philadelphia-port/

15,876 kilograms of cocaine... net worth, a shade over a billion dollars US.

If you follow the link and look at the photos, keep this in mind because it's only mentioned once in passing... "What is shown is only one quarter of the total amount seized..."

A lot of people have tried that on the Police Beagle Squad, and been set straight (along with three hots and a cot for 10 years) about how many molecules of scent it takes for a dog to alert, sit, stare at the source, wag his tail, and get a Kong toy with a treat in it for his pains ....

Clever idea trying to smuggle that in an excavator! Next time they should try a tank so they can fight off the coppers.

The two guys they've arrested are spivs from Queanbeyan, I wouldn't know them from Adam, something that is a fairly recent thing in Bungendore as up to about five years ago the place was still small enough that you got to know pretty much everybody by sight. Alas, not any more. There are numerous new sub-divisions and estates springing up like some sort of repulsive fungus plague all around the town. Thing is I have no idea where they think the water and infrastructure to support this huge population explosion is going to come from? All the housing is horrible, formulaic, built down to a price shit as well! Just the sort of thing that appeals to get-rich-quick coke dealing spivs.

Sounds like most towns in Australia..our little town in Vic is going through the same thing.
I suppose now Australia has no real manufacturing whats the options, dodgy developments and drug dealing.
