What's the average attendance for Guzzi rally in that east coast location?

I think it's a great location for a National. The roads around New Hampshire and Vermont (as well as some I know in Massachusetts) are ideal for Guzzis. I know a number of rides that will be fun, especially if you've never been to the area. I'm pumped about the rally! I couldn't get to the last two Nationals, but this one is only an hour away from home. It should be memorable!

I sat down and plotted a couple of day trips, but damned if I can figure out how to save a Google route map. Anyway, if you feel like taking a beautiful ride through the Green Mountain National Forest up to the Ben & Jerry's Factory, or if you want to ride on some nice backroads in southern New Hampshire and Vermont, I can lay out a route that you might like. I also have a route into western Massachusetts that's fun, but I haven't plotted it out yet. I'm avoiding Mount Washington and the Kancamagus Highway because the Laconia Rally is happening at the same time, and unless you like riding in a slow parade, those roads wouldn't be much fun.

I will! I'll be asking some questions too of people who live around there.
When we rode our old BSAs up to Brimfield, MA for the 2006 International Rally, we found some beautiful roads up through Pennsylvania through the state forests. And when Fay and I rode to Nova Scotia on the Stelvio, we went from our house to Grafton, Vermont the first day on some really nice roads, although there were a lot of little industrial towns to go through, it was still a good ride.
Planning is always fun. I suppose a lot of people would just get on I-95 and grit their teeth and go, but that's never been me, not on a pleasure trip ....

In 2010, my wife(at the time) and I rode our bikes to the National in John Day Oregon. We went first to the Buell Homecoming rally in Wisconsin, then continued west to John Day. All told, we took three weeks to go from Atlantic ocean to Pacific Ocean and back (Literally - we had breakfast at Helmut's Struedel in Rockport, Mass. and two weeks later, we had dinner at Oscar's Mexican Restaurant in Newport, Oregon). My ex was riding a Buell Lightning Long and I was riding my Norge. We bought tires when they were on sale in the spring, and put a set on just before we set out. we mostly rode for 500 miles a day, which is not excessively high mileage, and it was a really fun ride. Bring a camera, take lots of pictures and next year, at this time you can look at all the photos and smile.

Sounds a lot like when I road Old Route 66 back in the 90s. Started in PA and headed out to IL to pick up the road, then out to LA over the next two weeks, turned around and took a week to zig-zag back.

I used to live in Brimfield. Sorry I missed that one. Whenever I get frustrated with Italian bikes, I just think of the British non-system of thread measurements.

Do the ride. We are half way on your route. You can stop here, do any service that needs to be done on the bike, and JP Cycles is only twelve miles from here. Tires aren't problem. We are making plans to make this National.

Judi and I are making plans for this one. Hope the hack stays on 3 wheels ::)
Also planning a eastern Canadian Province trip after the rally. Will start another thread on that someday. Need lots of advice on that trip.

The month of June, 2015 is becoming a bit congested with rallies.
This year (2014) the MGNOC SW AR Regional Rally was held on the weekend 6/13-6/15. That would be 6/12-6/14 if it's held on the same weekend of the month in 2015.
The MGNOC National in NH is scheduled for 6/18-6/21.
The MGNOC MN Regional Rally is set for 6/26-6/28 in Grand Marais, MN.
This year (2014) the MGNOC VA Regional Rally was held on the weekend 6/27-6/29. That would be 6/26-6/28 if it's held on the same weekend of the month in 2015.
As I consider my plans for the '15 riding season, I'll probably opt to attend the SW AR Rally and the MN Rally. The National would be nice but, for me, it's a long way in the opposite direction from the other two. VA was a good rally this year but it is in conflict with Grand Marais.

If my plans go as I hope, I'm planning on Cedar Vale NAR, National, Minnesota,Wisconsin rallies in 2015. I won't know until a few things get finalized up here.

Very Exciting! It's a stone's throw from me. There are plenty of good roads too. Lannis is absolutely right about the I95 corridor from NY and through CT. Just awful (not to mention dangerous). Steer well West and run from PA into upstate NY then hang a left.

Dang it! I would be tempted to see if you'd let me follow you up, but as of a couple of months ago I'm committed to a ride to Alaska in June with some other local guys. Even if I could massage my schedule, I couldn't afford 2 trips that long in one summer. Maybe next year...

Well, when WOULD be the best month for a motorcycle visit? The conventional wisdom amongst my friends in Maryland who have ridden to Alaska is that June is better than later in the summer. Rain is better than snow or ice...

I'd say July and into August is better rainwise, and probably temperatures are warmer, too. Also the skeeters have shed their first few skins and are large enough to tip over a mid-sized bike with a flank attack. So that's something to watch for, once they finish off the bears.
But being up that way over the solstice has a bit of appeal to some, too. There's the Dust-2-Dawson NAR up at Dawson City over the solstice.

When I departed Bonneau on the 23 of May it was in the mid eighties with a 20% chance of storms. I stopped for the night in Princeton, WV.

The next morning it was 38 degrees and raining. I was headed for the New Cumberland rally where it was 31 degrees and a mixture of sleet and rain. I stayed put for two days and made the Cumberland late Saturday.

Shortly after I left New Cumberland it started to rain. I followed US-52 to Owatonna, MI where on May 30th the weather was so bad, wind gust to 50 MPH and rain, I found an inexpensive motel and holed up for four days.

I caught the ferry and departed Sitka late June and headed south in the rain. When I arrived on the northern part of Vancouver Island around the last of June it was still raining and didn't stop until I arrive at Campbell River, BC June 30th. The next day it was clear. It was as if someone just turned off the faucet. Since it was Canada Day weekend I stayed in Campbell River about a week.

I was just reinforcing RK post, and having some fun, about the weather in June verses the weather in July in August. As I posted, it rained almost every day until the last of June and it just stopped raining. However, when I returned to Glacier National Park to ride the Road to the Sun (It was still closed the when we were their the first week of June) it was wall to wall people. ::( :BEER:

Over the years, I've known groups of bikers who went to ride the Kanc during the Laconia Rally. Not once has anybody said that they had a fun ride. They all bitched about the heavy traffic and police presence. The Kancamagus Highway can bve a real treat to ride with scenic turnouts and spectacular scenery, but not during the Rally. The same goes for the Mt. Washington Auto Road. Do what you want, but all the rides I'm thinking about are keeping far away from the Laconia and White Mountains area. There's a lot to Northern New England. Take the ride up to the Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream factory in Waterbury, and I think you'll be happily Impressed. I have a good route planned out; as well as some other rides. Hopefully, my daughter and son in law will be able to show me how to post it here on Thanksgiving. (My Computer Literacy Level isn't quite up to Hooked On Phonics. )

Since this topic is narrowly focused on the '15 rally only, I won't make any comments about PNW rallys/NARs except to say that there are three major events in the area: Deep Forest, John Day, and Fossil. The WA MGNOC rep could maybe give you a sense of scheduling. PM me for contact info if you don't have access to the mgnoc website. Steve Ford, active in both the WA and OR chapters might also have some inside information.

The only effect Laconia might have on Keene region is the folks passing thru for bike week. The first day of Laconia isn't too bad, I like to sneak in for some T-Shirts and sun glasses (always good to have a junk pair in the tank bag).....but the final part of getting into town is frustrating with MANY long traffic stops.....is down hill and an engine off coast till you land some parking.
I vowed I'd never do it again.....but wouldn't it be great to have a Guzzi calvacade ride by!! :bike
BTW...I scored my EV from a board member over in Mass......I opted to leave the bike there for a summer fly, rally & ride!!!!! Been without a Guzzi for three years while pulling duty (again) in Kodiak, AK. And am truly jazzed about this being the first gathering I'll attend.....of many more.
And I get to meet many of you and see all my New England Guzzi clan again. Time to break out the checklist and get my stuff sorted

I was a vendor at the Iowa National and Wisconsin rallies last summer. I met Randy during dinner one night and found out about this rally from him. Ever since I've kept that weekend open in hopes I could make the 1100 mile drive from Green Bay.
Will there be several vendors at this event offering Guzzi parts? Having just purchased my first Guzzi (late 60's V700) I would love to bring it along and learn a few things from the "veterans". Will there be classes or seminars that I could volunteer for if we can make it there? For those of you who talked with me, I am the ignition guy in the old red truck ;D

This trip will be much shorter than the last time I went to a New Hampshire rally. For the first ever New Hampshire rally, I did a little tour of the whole Eastern US, visiting about 25 states and putting about 5800 miles on the Breva, traveling mostly secondary roads. Most of the routes for scenic sight-seeing I planned by looking at maps each evening; locals sent me on some other routes; and when I called Tex in the evening to tell him where I was, sometimes he would tell me places to ride or roads to look for or ferries to hop on! Even when I got lost, the scenery was beautiful, riding through the woods or following a river!
So for all you guys that live a little further than me, I encourage you to take a few days, find some good motorcycle roads and enjoy a ride to New Hampshire. You'll be glad you did!

I copy the route numbers onto a sheet of paper that I can see in the window of a tank bag. GPS is a back up and not used to navigate or plan. The AAA is a good source for maps. County or state roads preferred. US highways only when necessary and avoid Interstates. Same days, when riding in the eastern part of the US I can ride almost 200 miles. Some days I've made 250. When I come to a town I seldom take a bypass preferring to ride through and see what is there. Interstates are not without their uses but..........Rememb er all you folks who have just retired, you no longer have to be back at 8 AM on Monday. :BEER:

Most states' "official maps" are great in scale and detail and, IMO, much to be preferred over those of the AAA, an outfit I loathe for various policy and performance reasons. We only stay members because Kathi views it as a safety net, despite our (several) redundant emergency-towing service providers, etc. C'est ma femme douce. ::)
In fairness, have to say that while I find most of AAA's maps second-rate, its "National Capital Region" (or something like that) issue is stupendous -- at least for caging -- as it takes in a vast part of the D.C. metro blob area in one swoop, and is very useful. Got one by accident once, and now pick up a new one every chance we get.
OBTW, back to main topic, talking with several others about that trip nawth, and all looking forward to it. Tried to find a place to stay in Winchester, New Hampshire, only c.11 miles SW of the rally, so we would be less likely to forget where our lodging is ;D, but have reservations now at the HIE in Keene.

If I do go, I'll be looking for "off the beaten path" routing and much less expensive lodging than an HIE. Are there any reasonably priced "Mom and Pop" sort of motels in the area?

It's a long drive but I enjoy road trips. Being a vendor is a great way to meet new friends, even if you don't sell anything.
We should encourage sellers of Guzzi parts (new and used) to join the fun. I brought exhaust parts, electrical supplies, and of course our ignition kits.
My wife might even be able to join me this year and meet a few Guzzi wives!

Ha! That would work for me - on the Mille, I would need to stop at least that often to get the kinks out of my back & hips, not to mention the need to regularly empty the personal ballast tank.

Being a new Guzzi owner I am looking forward to attending an event and read with interest some of the comments on which route people plan on using. I would like to share an experience I had. Several years ago my brother and I Fed-Ex'd our bicycles from Florida up to Bar Harbor, Maine. We then rode from Bar Harbor to just south of Buffalo, NY. To prepare for the trip my brother joined Adventure Cycles who are the AAA for the bicycle world. They compile information from other cyclist who have biked thru particular areas all across the country. Our trip was referred to as "the Northern Tier Route" and we were provided with a large map broken down into individual "charts". Each chart was approximately 30-35 scale miles and listed emergency medical services information as well as camping and hotel accommodations in that particular area. Because the information was provided by bicyclists, all the routes were on secondary roads and mostly away from heavy traffic. We never ate at a chain restaurant preferring to eat at "family owned" dinners and staying at "mom and pop motels". Only one night on the entire trip did we end staying at a motel I would be reluctant to take my wife. And that was only due to the fact that all the other motel listed on the "chart" were already booked full. We had a fantastic trip, were able to meet some wonderful people and travel thru some interesting small communities that would be missed by traveling the main highways. I realize that many people planning on attending the Rally will be traveling long distances in a limited time frame and are forced to stick to the super slabs, but for others, I thought I would offer this as an alternative suggestion.

I have to agree with Bill regarding state maps as preferable to AAA however the difference is small. State maps are conveniently located at the welcome centers along the Interstates. And that is the problem. The only welcome centers, I know of, not located along Interstates, are on US-17 S just north of Myrtle Beach, SC and just over the GA border on US-301 S. I'm sure there are more but that the only ones I know of. So if navigating with a state map is your primary gold you have to ride the Interstates. State maps may be ordered for those of you who plan well in advance but not to folks, like me, who don't. Much more convenient to run down to the local AAA office and grab a handful of map for states you may travel thorough. :BEER:

It would be a side trip by auto for the day.
I may be visiting relatives in New England this summer and could maybe make it at the time of the rally.
I'd like to stop by and check it out. Hopefully buy some things from the vendors.

Don't mind if it involves some kind of fee.

I have attended 6 BMW nationals and multiple other BMW rallies, 5 Moto Guzzi rallies, once to the Italian Motocycle Rally in Sturbridge MA, but never a Moto Guzzi National. Very much looking forward to this one. My most frequent Moto Guzzi riding companion happens to be my dog Cooper. Some of you know he is an excellent rally dog. No trouble. I need to find out if he will be welcome at the rally sight. I will resort to calling the rally sight if it gets closer and I haven't found out. An e-mail address of someone that might know or the campground itself would be appreciated. Hope someone can help me out. I will be attending anyway but I sure would like to bring Cooper. Thanks. My dog has roughly 17,000 miles in 4 seasons, he's done a couple of 500 mile days. 26,000 miles on the Norge. He rides a lot (for a dog) and doesn't like being left behind, but I will leave him home if necessary. I just want to know for sure. Plenty of time, no worries.

It's not the nice little dogs at rallies that cause these rules to have to be put in place. It's the stupid a$$holes that OWN the dogs that cause it.
I've helped with BSA rallies where the rule was "No Dogs". But a few people complained, so the committee said "OK, dogs can come but they have to be on a leash."
First year, generally no problems.
Second year, WAY more dogs. Yappy, noisy dogs that bark half the night, and owners let them shit everywhere in the campground and don't clean up after them.
Third year, weird people are bringing 3/4 wolves and attack dogs, strutting around the campground in trench coats with them and scaring people.
Fourth year, ..... No Dogs Allowed. There's no point in making the rally miserable for 100 people who are there for people and motorcycles to accommodate a few people who can't leave the dog behind for a weekend. I love my dog and take him anywhere it's reasonable and that he's welcome, but if the rule is "No Dogs" I don't toss my dummy out of the pram and sulk like some would .....

So why not have a rule in place that if your dog causes any complaints you will be asked to leave period? I'd be good with that because Cooper's well behaved, not yappy, I respect the poop rules, loves kids, chases balls and brings them back to you, and he's hardly intimidating unless you let him get to close and don't like stubby little tails that wag and over active tongues that give kisses if given the opportunity. I think he's still under 15lbs, wears his doggles whenever on the bike, has his own jacket and rain suit not to be cute, actual riding gear that works. He's created more smiles, thumbs ups, dumb looks, pointing people and picture taking than anything I've ever done in my life. I don't want to be around badly behaving people whether they own a dog or not. You don't have to have a yappy dog to keep people up 1/2 the night at rallies. Been there done that (on the receiving end). Better yet why not have a rule in place that if you cause any complaints you will be asked to leave? All I really want to know is if I can bring him or not. Thanks again.

In my experience, that tends to be be too "subjective" and too hard to enforce. Much more effective to just not get it started.

That's a sad commentary on humans, given how loyal and loving that dogs actually are .....
Or maybe I'm just affected by the fact that I had Grand Jury duty today and we had to deal with a couple of felony "Dog Lover" cases .... :-[

I like being around good dogs. I hope they can come to the rally and that the humans behave as well as they do!! Although that's pretty standard operating procedure for a Guzzi rally ..... humans behaving well .....

Hmmmmmm..... I have to pretty much agree Lannis on this one. I love dogs - especially other peoples' dogs because they to feed, wash, pay vet bills for, etc., them, but if the rally organizers have had problems in the past or otherwise are concerned about problems, that's their call. On the other hand, I've been involved with running the DC area's British & European Classic Motorcycle Day for a number of years & we've had a small no. of dogs attending each year (I wonder if we charged them admission???) with no problems that I'm aware of, including no leaving of uncleaned-up poop. Maybe our event just attracts a different breed of enthusiast... Of course, we do have a small but very visible police presence at our event, so we wouldn't have to call very far to get help if we did ever have a problem. We also have a Norton Club weekend rally every September, usually with a few dogs in attendance, & I don't recall any problems with them. The club members themselves, on the other hand.... :o

It's a new deal this year. If you eat a bowl of steel-cut oats at the gate (to prove you're a real Guzzist), they waive the rally fee. But there's a $20 toilet-use fee for each visit.

yeah. It came loose from the Canyon Dancer. I think I strapped it at a bad angle on it. Anyway, the rear fender, tail light/ signals, and right HB bag are smashed, It fell backwards into the rear of the trailer and on it's side. Could be more damage.
Bev and I are kicked back in the motel. Still heading to Indy 500. Not sure what to do afterwards.

Well, Howard, recognizing that we’ll all start from varying points, here, FWIW, is our (well, intended as of just now) route.
We are a group of 6 (three Norges; one 8v), Kaw1400 Concours, ST1300, and a new FJR), with one of the Norges two-up.
Kathi has to be at Fort Bragg right after the rally (s-i-l is taking brigade command; a great American :thumb: ), so she'll be in the Mini sag wagon, but she’ll play pillion while in New England.
We’ll all likely not be a convoy, but will stay within a few miles of each other, then meet to scratch, spit, grunt, and annoy women at the hotel. :thewife:
Taking two days to get there; RON in Carbondale, Pa. Best Western, btw, in case anyone’s in the area and wants to mooch some whiskey, cigars, or whatever. :boozing: Or maybe call 9-1-1 for the fun of it. :police:
Did Google maps first, then AAA, to find a nice “avoid highways” route. Not really happy with either. Here’s the Google one: https://goo.gl/maps/yM3fy
Then got out “paper” maps and looked down from about 200,000 feet.
Outlined what I thought looked good without being too complex. Confirmed fun factor by looking at “terrain” on Google. The topo looks pretty darn good.

Naturally, I stole some of that. It includes sections you worried about, but c’est la guerre.
This should be in the 550-mile or so range, i.e., a manageable two-day ride for all in our bunch.
So, FWIW, here’s our planned routing from Cross Junction, Va., to Swanzey, N.H. Yes, we all know it won’t be exactly like this.
Moreover, I’m building a GPS and web-based turn-by-turn for the 21st centurians and a tank-bag insert for the luddites in our group. :grin:
In the meantime, here’s the short version for your consideration.
Day 1 (17 June 2015)
US 522 N to Hancock, Md.
Then, 655, 522, 30, 75, 274, & 34 to the Millersburg Ferry over the Susquehanna — http://www.millersburgferry.org/2136/2199.html & http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Millersburg_Ferry. We love ferries. This one, the last on the Susquehanna, looks especially interesting.
Then 147, 225, 61N, 487, 118 (at Red Rock), 29, US 6 at Tunkhannock, 107, 247, 106, and surface streets into Carbondale.
Day 2 (18 June 2015)
Depart Carbondale, Pa.
Bus. US 6, US 6 E, 171, 370, 17 NY, 268, 10 (n of apex), 23 at Stamford, to Catskill [pick up Joe S’s route], 22 at Hillsdale, 43 at Stephentown, 2 at Williamstown, 10 to Swanzey (with a slight nod to I-91 vic. Greenfield that I’ll avoid when there).

There are plenty of great rides. I will say the Laconia Rally will possibly hamper some of the NH routes around the lakes region. Mt Washington will probably have some crowds, mainly the adventurous harley riders.
May I suggest a possible ride to northern Vermont. There's a brewery called Hill Farmstead which I went to last weekend. It's has been voted best in the world for a couple years. You can fill a growler and do a tasting or buy bottles to bring back to campsite. The riding is great through Vermont.

Suggestions for Bill Hagens route (to make more complicated - but score more points)
1.) Stay on rte. 23 to Otis. Take rte. 8 north. From Hinsdale South to somewhere near Beckett was 1/2 fresh pavement on Sunday. It should all be done by then.
2.) Route 43 lands crosses Rt. 7. Turn south, ride to Lanesboro, and then go over Mt. Greylock. Come down in N. Adams and rejoin rte. 2.

I'll take a bike ride to a National any time. :thumb: You guys have it easy. :grin: I'll be coming into either Newark or Kennedy then bus it to the city. Taxi to the friends in the East Village. Next morning early, I ride the hound to Keene. 6 hrs. shorter than going into Logan then a 9hr hound ride to Keene. I don't have the time off to ride in from Couer D' Alene area. I'm needed in the office but I can have time off for the BMW National end of July in Billings. :thumb:

My wife and I wore suspenders, not red though. The only guys I met that I knew from here were Tom and Lee (who bought the EV from me).

Gaaa! Just wrote a novel, and an Apple software update crashed my message. Need to get that stuff off the PC since Dorcia doesn’t have an Ifone any more. Shoulda known when I was typing faster than the computer was putting it on the screen that something was going on..
At any rate… an abbreviated version.
Took the Aero Lario in the van to the Kid’s and Nora’s Uncle Rolf and Sue’s place on the Maine seacoast. Hung out and roared around a few days. I’d heard of the http://www.kancamagushighway.com/, a famous road in New Hampshire, so Rolf on his R1200R and I rode to the rally from Maine, via the Kank. Unfortunately, Laconia was going on, so there were Hawg jams, but they were easily dispatched. When we stopped for gas after, Rolf looked at his GPS and said, “looks like 84 miles of interstate..” We turned off in less than an hour. (!) Don’t know how fast we were going.. the Lario speedo only goes to 80. :copcar:
Dorcia had already arrived and found us a camp spot after Rolf and I had taken the roads less traveled. We quickly set up the camper, and headed out to dinner. Lannis was just in front blocking the horizon, :grin: saw Mac Dennis, a noted small block among other stuff guru, and Tom Au was taking tix. Hadn’t seen either for some time. Gotta love a nationals. Settled into dinner among friends..some new. It *is* all about the people, after all.."You meet the most interesting characters on a Guzzi."
Melissa Pierson (The perfect vehicle) came by a couple of times during the rally to talk Larios, but didn’t take me up on the demo ride offer. I think she was a little spooked by the way it sounds. :evil: Met the x Illuminati guys that built hers. :thumb: The only guy that took me up on a Aero engine demo offer was (zoom zoom) John Henry, I’ll let him tell you what he thinks.
Seacoast had demo bikes, and were doing a brisk business of doing that.
Unfortunately, turnout was less than I expected, around 250, but there were 19 national MGNOC reps there, more than I can ever remember.
Kudos to Randy and friends from all over the world for running a smooth and enjoyable rally. Food, camping, sanitation, etc. were top notch.
Oh, almost forgot. The AeroLario won a beer mug engraved with “Best Short Block” (maybe someone peeked?) :wink: with a FREE (Guzzi content) beer in it..

Witchy (red shirt) and others fixed her up post haste. :thumb: Seems like you can count on one hand the dealer's mechanics that are capable any more.. :evil:

An awesome motorcycle. It is agile, quick, pulls fantastic, and sounds GREAT! Riding it was a blast. Thank You Chuck for the opportunity to do so. :boozing: The Aero Lario is a keeper. :cool:
On another note, I took the opportunity to ride the 300cc scooter they had in the demo fleet. Great fun. :thumb:

As for the rally itself, it was fantastic. A decent venue, great people, the food was good and they were even cooking breakfast Sunday morning when we all were packing up. I left there about 8 AM with Jerry Hylton. We rode for some time in the rain and landed just West of Buffalo where we stopped for the night. That got Jerry half way home and me about 2/3rds. I had an easy ride this morning then spent time drying out the gear, running errands, and some chores. Oh well, all good things come to an end so back to work tomorrow.

Thanks Randy. You dun good! This wasn't my first rodeo as I've been to all of the Nationals except the last high dollar one in Cal. Randy has been working on this for a year. He won't tell you what the fairgrounds cost or the amount of hours he put in just for our enjoyment. I've been saying for years that Guzzi rallies are too cheap.
Another paltry 4k plus on the Guzzi.
Now for the good news. I got home and for once my clothes were not on the front porch and nothing had been taken by
RepoMo. Locks hadn't been changed like in some of the "good ole days". Even had enough cigars to get to the Texas line.

Judi and I are still in New England. At the farthest point east in the USA, Lubec Maine. Actually having breakfast on Campobello island in New Brunswick. SPIII still chugging out the miles. Touring Maine for another few days before the blast back to Milwaukee.
Randy really did a bang up job of hosting a bunch of hooligans from near and far.

Had a great time. Thanks Randy and everyone else that put a lot of work into running a fantastic rally. I want to also thank the person that offered me their model Tenni they won in the door prize. I've been part of the Guzzi comunity since I was 6 years old and glad I still am today. Great people and great motorcycles.

Back home in no hurry tomorrow.

I enjoyed looking at the pictures and reading the accounts of the National Rally.
Tonight I was chatting on the phone with a friend as I scrolled through the pictures and I happened to notice the "Mr. Nevada Lives" T-shirt on one attendee.
A friend at the rally had already informed me that he had seen more than one such Nevada shirt still in existence.
The irony is that the friend with whom I was chatting tonight was The Great One himself.
I am happy to inform everyone who remembers our infamous lord that Mr. Nevada is indeed very much alive and well. He continues his antics, escapades, foibles and unintended predicaments with a fervor that has not abated.
Sometimes I really wonder how long his roller coaster ride can continue but it keeps rolling along its merry way. Nevada is still inflated with joy at the sight of KK doughnuts speeding off the cooking line and his other more amorous pursuits have landed him in jeopardy time after time.
Also, rest assured that Skate is still the same and very much on the scene. The two are in a perpetual state of friendship flux that has persisted since the transmission oil debacle a few years ago.
This is all a sometimes unbelievable play that is going on in reality and proves that truth can be stranger than fiction.

I just got home yesterday. Spent most of the day recovering from jet lag. Randy and Natalie did a great job with the rally. Had to leave a day earlier because the flights were messed up out of JFK. LLLLong day of air travel. Back to work tomorrow. Next month, Billings.

And I did assure Blackcat at the rally that, although the fun doesn't depend on whether Mr. Nevada is real or not, I do believe he's real, I actually know his real name (I think), and though I know people that do SOME of the things Mr. Nevada does, I don't know anyone who does ALL the things he does.
Wearing of the (size XL, by the way, NOT the XXXXL Extra Fat edition) shirt is meant to encourage the narration of the further adventures of the great one ....

Looks like a wonderful time was had by all. New Hampshire is home to me, and I had some great plans made, but the job took precedence and I spent the month, and particularly that weekend, relocating from Chicago (home for the last quarter century) to smack dab in the middle of Hoosier land. The dust has nearly settled and I hope to make it to Lebanon for a monthly lunch before too long, and hopefully meet with some of y'all. Clearly a group with their priorities straight.
Thanks for sharing the stories and photos. Motivates me for the next one.

I'm back home, too, but had less ground to cover than Texans Sam and Ken, and others from way off. That said, and especially since Kathi isn't here for a few more days, I'm in the middle of doing nothing, and think I'll continue on that for awhile. :wink:

Again it will be held in John Day, Oregon. Walking distance to town and lots of motels. Nice campground with the damn motorhomes relegated to their own spot away from us campers. Talk about good riding country. Look for thee little skinny man wearing the doubleknit pants with the shirt that has a pocket protector.
See you there as it is only about 2,000 miles for us.

As Ken says it'll be in OR. For most it's up and over to the Pacific NW. Gary and Gerri Jenkins will be working on it. Great venue. Ice cream parlor right out the front gate. Cool state museum right around the corner. Fossil beds National Park nearby also.

It's a bit more than that from Virginia but Fay and I are thinking about it. It's inspiring to see all these guys from Oregon and Washington and Texas and such pulling into a New England rally, so that, combined with the fact that there may be an ice cream parlor right there, might tip the balance ....

Couple of nice restaurants close-by too. Liquor store and Ace Hardware within 1/4 mile of the fairgrounds. Town is friendly.

Great Rally well worth the ride to and from. We traveled through Canada with Lloyd & Pam Rolston from Brantford Ontario with my wife Louise on her 450 Rebel "FELON".
I wonder what the border folks thought of the license plate! They never asked…… :bow:
The Saturday ride directed by Randy Tefft, was great and the photo stop had its moments! The food service was great, the awards wonderful, especially the “old rider” mug to some guy from Michigan.
Hope to see you all again in the Midwest, or Oregon next year.
