I could tell ya about my anticipated warranty deal on my Duc for two broken bolts of the pannier mounts but if I told you about the bill I paid I'd be laughed off the board and Dusty would diss me.

Of course. Along with three K's, I've owned many variations of R and F bikes over the past 25 years (the R850R being my favorite and the R1100S being the worst -- by a mile). My only point was the K1200RS presented me with absolutely no reliability or maintenance issues (ABS, Paralever, fuel injection, electronics, etc.) that you often read on chat boards, and the ownership experience was not burdensome. With obvious exception of the chassis, engine, gearbox, and plastics, the '98 R1100RT shares much of the same engineering and componentry as that K.
